Might be harsh, but come on now.

Synchronized diving?
Synchronized swimming?
The death of the perfect 10? Politically correct .

Golf should be a no-brainer (borrow and shorten the Ryder Cup formula, and expand the countries involved), but IOC says  to that. Boo.

Greetings Box from the balcony of my room at the Hyatt La Manga. I have a bottle of Red, a chorizo, hunk of Edam cheese, a fresh baguette and my work server seems to be down - all is well.

Flew out of BCN about 2 hours after the JK crash the other day. It was very awkward being in an airport while that was all going on, and flying the carrier involved. I felt terrible, the poor flight attendants on our flight were crying the whole way down to ALC. I'm sure they lost their friends.

We're flying JK 3 more times in the next week, assuming they stay in business. Back up to BCN and over to the Canary's. I think two of the legs are on Mad Dogs.

The SBH seems a little nervous about everything, but hasn't outright asked if we can change our flights around. I think we're going to see how this all plays out. I'm sure flying on JK will be safer in the upcoming weeks than it ever was in the past few years. Or so I keep reassuring myself.

The solvency of JK seems to be in serious doubt in this part of the world. Who knows what will happen. Maybe I can get us rerouted on TG via MLE. :o

In other news, it's very, very weird to receive multiple emails / text messages from friends and coworkers asking if we're alive...

Nope. We were in 4D/F, so we were relatively far back. The FAs were actually very good. I think most of them were ex-Sabena, as was mentioned by a few others here on FT. They were all very professional, and even though I spoke to them in German, they picked up I was a native English speaker and spoke to be in English. Something LH FAs never do.

The seat was something to behold. I couldn't, for the life of me, get comfortable in it. If you're over 6' your feet get crushed under the seat in front of you when you're in full recline. It's an angled "lie flat" which I hate, and this one seemed to be the worst of every one I've been in. There was no ply in the cushioning, in fact, I think the softest part of the seat was the metal protrusion that dug into my thigh all night.

Plus, the flight leaves EWR so early, it's very difficult to sleep becaues of the time cycle. You land in FRA before midnight on the East coast...

Creepy on both counts.

Sitting in PIT waiting for my flight...

CO offered to put me on the earlier flight home in Y (I am in F), in a middle seat. How nice of them.

I suggested that they put me on the PIT-EWR Q400 flight and confirm F for EWR-IAH, but they didn't go for it. ;)

Working on a Friday, which I haven't done in about 7 weeks.

Hartmann: I'll add to your waiting for flight misery. We're losing a concierge here, so the schedule is of course all messed up. I can't confirm myself for PHL as of now because of this. Thought I'd give as much notice as I could. Sorry.

BL Good luck on the cardiac road.

RE the tilt, I find that everytime I pull out my Palm it feels like I have a giant slab of something in my hand.

I spent the day traveling back home. First the drive from Baton Rouge to MSY, then a flight to IAH, then a quick layover with a very short stop in the C North PC to send two e-mails, then the flight to ATL, then the drive home from the airport, with an out of the way stop up in Buckhead to pick up a new mouse and keyboard for the home PC… It's 6:20 PM EDT and I'm just now logging into the Penalty Box for the first time today. :(

I'm tired, hungry, and at home alone with two cats, since my other half is in Vegas for the weekend. It's about to pour rain outside. I'm thinking it's time to order dinner to be delivered, and to sit back and watch TV and play with the cats until I'm too tired to keep my eyes open any longer.

Oh, and I got myself a great gig for work next week. Before this morning I was scheduled to be at home with not much of anything to do, and certainly little or no billable work for a client. Well, one of my clients is actually willing to pay to have me update all of our training handouts for the newest version of our software, which was just released. Normally this would be one of those non-billable administrative tasks that we have to get done. But this time, because one of my clients wants it done now and is willing to pay for my time, I've been assigned to spend the week working from home, updating training documents, and actually getting to bill out my time. Life is good. Sure there's no RDMs or EQMs in working from home, but after my whirlwind travel around the US during the last week I'm up for a few days at home.

I'm sure I'll feel differently by next Friday though. I don't have a flight scheduled now until September 11.

Isn't that grounds to be kicked out of the Box?

I had a nice lazy day, decided not to go into the client site and just call in. Drove down the coast and now i'm chilling at the condo before the DMB show. :D
