Perhaps a trip to IAH to smell some jet fuel, see a few planes, and have a caprihina?

By the way, he's single. ;)

The only class that is currently being offered is in Houston next week, that would get me "qualified" to take the shift that I want.

Still haven't heard from the instructor about clearing the waitlist. Guess it's on to Plan B.

You have mentioned this before about Scott. I will just have to make sure to schedule a hello sometime. ;)

Did you try the hublet? Many people forget about the great deals at the Hublet, perhaps they have a half empty class there? Or what about Guam, do they teach the course there?

Count me as jealous. We had a cold winter followed by a late spring and a craptastic summer. Would love a string of 93 degree days combined with 72 degree dewpoints.

They tweeted about it this morning. They also tweeted that RDU accepts pda BPs.

I was on a flight a couple of weeks ago that had the new devices, and the flight attendants were using them. I asked @continental about it via Twitter and they replied that it would be fleet wide on all mainline flights by end of August.

That would be the birdie and look, there's a thread about it.

The other day (week? month?) there were some posts about all of the Hello Kitty paraphernalia that EVA uses.

I was routing around in the garage this AM and came across this:

Aren't you all jealous?

You'll have a good sized premium tax of buisness class to LHR.

Apparently Google voice has some learning to do. It translated 'Fozz' into 'Todd'. :(

Does anyone know if they ran out of invites? I've had a few friends waiting for one and it's been a few weeks.

I believe the tax only stands if he is there more than 24 hours. If he is there less, it's considered a connection and they don't nail you so bad.

IIRC, I caught the #2 wire. Isn't the #3 wire the "target"? We did get one concession to help us out - they had us do all the stick work, but they had the autothrottle engaged to control approach speed. I do like the "meatball" guidance system they use to make sure you're on the glidepath better than the standard red/white lights on regular airfields. You've got a single point of reference for vertical/horizontal positioning that's right in your visual field, as opposed to having to look at the gauges.

I got a great appreciation for how absolutely amazingly skilled fighter pilots are. The controls on the F/A-18C are touchy. You think about moving your hand on the stick and you'll start to turn. That makes formation flying all the more impressive.

The sim is pretty much the world's biggest/most expensive video game. Take the cockpit section out of a fighter, stick it in the middle of a 30' diameter bubble with basically 360 degree projector coverage (except for the natural blind spots you would have from the seat). They had the graphics capability dialed down due to classification reasons for us, but even the non-classified graphics in 1999 were impressive.

I've done this simulator as well, at the JRB in Ft Worth.

it was powered by a couple Onyx servers :D

AA quoted $159 for taxes and booking fee. Do they charge you more when you land or should that be included in the $159? I have the itin on hold but they have me leaving at 1:45 on Thursday and getting back at 11:05 pm on Monday. A little earlier than I would have liked to leave and a little late getting back...
