We have a system for booking classes. It tells you where and when so CLE isn't an option at this time. GUM: that's an airport that I will avoid at all costs. If you think EWR and/or IAH plays games, GUM invented shenanigans!

I'm at the PC at DCA, mostly dry now after being caught in a downpour on the way to the Metro. I had intended to check out the DL club, but the DL people were most obnoxious. They refused to let me in because I was not flying anywhere. I told the agent at the desk that I wanted to check the place out prior to the divorce. She refused. When I pointed out that CO was happy to give me a gate pass to visit the PC any time I asked, she frowned. She then told me I was violating FAA rules! I asked about buying a ticket and she frowned, whereupon I told her I'd seen enough and that I was going. She did offer to let me briefly look around but I told her I'd go back to CO where knew I was welcome.

Some jerk in the corner here is on a conference call via the speakerphone on his Blackberry  After about 5 or 6 (at least) people shot him dirty looks, he turned the volume way down. We can still hear it, though. :td:

You should do a running tackle on him, a la Terry Tate.

"This ain't your home, so don't use the speakerphone, Richard!"

He's at least 20 feet from me. I just walked over and politely chewed him out. The response? ":eek:h -- you can really hear it over there? Just relax." No kidding. This after he turned the volume down earlier because people were shooting him evil looks. And telling me to, "Relax?" Jerk.

I hope you said something else.

I told him that I didn't want to listen to his conference call, that he should use a headset if he wanted his hands free and that yes -- about 1/3 of the club could hear his call. He left the club about 5 minutes ago.

Afternoon Box --

Hyatt just okayed my upgrade to diamond (currently Plat due to CO PPlus) for a 4 month trial period. If I stay 15 nights then I get diamond through 2011, and if not, I just fall back down to Plat.

http://www.goldpassport.com/gp/en/of...inum-offer.jsp

Hope that can help someone here.

And now I'm going to crawl back into bed after dealing with 1,600lbs of $ coins...my back hurts. :o

Given my experiences with post-merger DL, this doesn't surprise me a bit. They have become very smug since gaining their "We're the biggest airline in the world" status. I'm almost dreading flying them in a couple of weeks. And many of their ground employees at ATL could give CO's worst EWR agents a run for their money when it comes to dishing out attitude and down right rudeness.

Wonder if it's the same jerk I've encountered at least twice in the last six months at an IAH PC doing the same thing?

Xyzzy Aug 28, 2009 1:05 pm

Great -- now there's another jerk. This one has a headset. He's walking in circles talking and gesticulating. At least he's relatively quiet.

ConciergeMike Aug 28, 2009 1:08 pm

Hubris will doom DL just as much as labor problems are dooming UA.

I should have taken a picture of him.

What's the official rule regarding entry to DL clubs? Do we really need to have tickets?

I had already taken the free upgrade, even though I'll earn diamond the "hard" way before the trial period is up. Getting the extra points, suite upgrades, and free breakfasts isn't a bad outcome.

Thanks -- :)

Besides dealing with those damnable $ coins this week's been a busy one -- visiting relatives, job hunting and just random stuff...I never realized unemployment would keep me this busy!
