Walked out of the office yesterday afternoon, and was not assaulted with instant steam-bath sensation. Sure, it was still in the 90s, but it was tolerable. Granted, it will probably linger like this for several more weeks (and maybe even have an occasional spike back to upper-90s), but I think the worst has passed. :D

Quick, someone find this man some wood to knock on!

Box, I've posted in the Austin DO thread about this but I'll post it here in case anyone is interested...

There is a BBQ joint in Lexington, TX that was voted #1 in the state and after talking to two friends who are paid food critics, they confirm that it is darn tasty. So, I'm thinking of making the drive out that way on that Saturday before going down to meet up with everyone else in Lockhart. The place gets busy and sells out early, so I was hoping to be there by 11am.

Anyone interested?

I'm in.

Then reroute MSP-IAD-LAX-SEA-GEG, with IAD-LAX in 3-Cabin F. :D

If CLT-SFO was a valid routing, i have no idea why IAD-LAX wouldn't be. That should be easy to convince the ICC of. :D

Now, routing MSP-ORD-NRT-SEA-GEG might be a bit more of a challenge.

I recall a particularly  summer in Austin where it stayed in the 100s well into September, and didn't really cool off at all until well into October. I had an excellent coping mechanism, though. I spent most of that time at The Pier on Lake Austin, drinking "Stupids" (frozen margarita & rumrunner swirls with shots of 151) and doing not much of anything on my brother's boat.

You should be able to call and get it refunded, that error is pretty normal, there is a refund number that is listed on .bomb.

Nice. Do you remember which wire you caught?

IIRC, I caught the #2 wire. Isn't the #3 wire the "target"? We did get one concession to help us out - they had us do all the stick work, but they had the autothrottle engaged to control approach speed. I do like the "meatball" guidance system they use to make sure you're on the glidepath better than the standard red/white lights on regular airfields. You've got a single point of reference for vertical/horizontal positioning that's right in your visual field, as opposed to having to look at the gauges.

I got a great appreciation for how absolutely amazingly skilled fighter pilots are. The controls on the F/A-18C are touchy. You think about moving your hand on the stick and you'll start to turn. That makes formation flying all the more impressive.

The sim is pretty much the world's biggest/most expensive video game. Take the cockpit section out of a fighter, stick it in the middle of a 30' diameter bubble with basically 360 degree projector coverage (except for the natural blind spots you would have from the seat). They had the graphics capability dialed down due to classification reasons for us, but even the non-classified graphics in 1999 were impressive.

My weekend travel is by car. Sunday am, my dad and I are making the trek from Chicago-Estes Park to spend a few days backpacking in the Rockies.

After some time the shakes do go away. But then then they come back. (yes I have the lack of travel shakes right now)

Yes, the three wire is the target but #2 isn't bad. ^

I need to meet said Scott, have heard good things about him as well. Guess I will have to fly at night!

Scott is a great guy and very good at his job in the PClub. He even comes out of his cage and helps at the ticket counter from time to time.
By the way, he's single. ;)

The only class that is currently being offered is in Houston next week, that would get me "qualified" to take the shift that I want.

Still haven't heard from the instructor about clearing the waitlist. Guess it's on to Plan B.

A little birdie has told me a new thread will be opening up soon about debit and credit cards be accepted for in-flight purchases.

Yes. Same work days, same days off but earlier evening hours. I was hoping to work less days. Plan B involves getting back into meal ordering, billing data entry and protecting customers on delayed inbound/outbound flights, plus being a gate agent.

Plan A meant I would only work 3 days a week and hang out in the Baggage Service Office getting yelled at. :D

They tweeted about it this morning. They also tweeted that RDU accepts pda BPs.
