Wow, nice thunderstorm just rolled through. Lowered the temperature about 20 degrees which is always welcome.

I could have used one of those - just got home (yes, severely ) and turned on the AC.

Thanks, I desperately need it. God I hate engineering. Two on-line applications tomorrow and then the weekend figuring out the essay questions for a GS-14 postion with questions like "Provide specific examples that describe your ability to explain technical concepts and complex issues in a convincing manner, negotiate with others, and you ability to facilitate and influence solution with a diverse internal or external audience."

I have to go to class to become qualified and that class is currently full and I am waitlisted. I am trying to work some shenanigans to get into the class before the new work schedule takes place. Not sure if I will be successful.

Best of luck on getting into the class. Now I'll have to start managing waitlists ...

In Fed-speak, this is called "leadership and influence". ;)

TGIF for me.

There is a job in Fiji open for Station Manager, perhaps a move is needed?

The Feds make things so dang complicated and technical, one has to be an effective communicator. I even had to take a federal course called "leadership and influence". Do you know your Myers-Briggs categorization?

I think the young lady in the Mercury commercials may have broader shoulders than I do

I read that question as "How well can you BS people with a smile on your face?".

It's more effective to have a somber face. This way they think I'm serious about the crap I'm saying.

Didn't want him to discuss the Myers-Briggs; thinking about one's personality type and self-awareness might help the essay flow. For instance, I'm an eNTP, which means:

* I can make immediate decisions scrutinized by the public when necessary; as a borderline introvert, non-sensitive decisions get appropriate time.
* I take lessons learned seriously and incorporate those into future decisions,
* I gather information when appropriate from various public / non-public sources using sound logic,
* I will handle any problem when it arises, even if never imagined.

When I now think of the essay's "provide specific examples", I could write pages by prompting myself with those statements (without ever saying "myers-briggs, personailty, etc.).

Depending on how I brushed my teeth that day or the brand of coffee I drank I'm ESTP or ISTP.
