Now, I really have to decide. Go after 1K for the SWUs for next year or stick with just what I'm planning to fly on UA, get 1P, and forgo the SWUs (but get more miles on CO.
You can do better than that! :D Go for 1k -- it's only a measly 25k bis miles at the most from 1P. |

It's quite likely we would travel outside the US on UA next year. However, the way I understand UA's 1K program is that it takes 150,000 EQMs to get the SWUs, which I wouldn't achieve this year.

If you know that you're doing a couples trip overseas in teh pointy end next year, it's nicer to burn SWUs than miles. @:-)

Just picked up new glasses today. Still adjusting to the slightly stronger prescription...getting a bit of a headache.

Between next weekend and November 14, I'll "earn" (more like steal candy from a ) a little over 172,000 redeemable miles. That's for a grand total of six weekends of flying in the pointy end at eminently reasonable prices. It takes 37,500 BD mi. + ~$450 to do a miles+cash redemption in biz from N. America to Europe (including Turkey). So, it should be enough for 4.5 cash+mi. roundtrips in J on any :-: carrier (or 9 one-ways in J at cash+mi. rates). It's like Bernie Madoff started a Frequent Flyer Program or something. :D |

How short of 1k are you?

Now Windoze wants to apply 28 more updates. That brings the total to 85  ...so far

Incorrect. At 100k, you get six. every 50k after 100k you get two more. So 150k would net you eight SWUs.

Right now the trips I was going to fly on UA regardless would put me at around 55,000 EQMs with the double EQM promo. The rest of my work travel, which I'm currently planning on doing on CO, works out to around 23,000 EQMs (at 100% EQMs with no double EQM promo). If I switched that to UA, it's actually worth a few more EQMs, before the promo, do to the differences in connecting mileage via IAD and ORD versus IAH. With the promotion, that puts me just over 100,000 EQMs for the year on UA. I'm highly tempted…

Your outlay of cash to fly the Q-Ups is surely less than the price of booking J for one trip (depending on destination) and you're yielding enough miles to fly 4.5 roundtrips?
