Right now the trips I was going to fly on UA regardless would put me at around 55,000 EQMs with the double EQM promo. The rest of my work travel, which I'm currently planning on doing on CO, works out to around 23,000 EQMs (at 100% EQMs with no double EQM promo). If I switched that to UA, it's actually worth a few more EQMs, before the promo, do to the differences in connecting mileage via IAD and ORD versus IAH. With the promotion, that puts me just over 100,000 EQMs for the year on UA. I'm highly tempted…

Yes. If I had simply refunded my $650 FLL-PDX and replaced it with 4 more MSP/ORD-GEG runs (have 5 of those combined, in addition to the FLL-PDX), I would have been able to earn around 300,000 RDM in 9 weekends of flying for the same price. I really wanted to visit PDX, though. :D
I found the info you were talking about the Post-9/11 GI Bill -- if I qualify for that, and I'm fairly sure that I would (my question is if you can use the Post-9/11 flavor if you used the Montgomery GI Bill while in uniform...) I could probably fund my graduate degree. |

Does the economics of flying the Q-Ups to yield said RDM's get thrown off at all by having to pay $450 to use the miles??

Nice. If I had the scratch and an understanding fiancee, I'd be all over that.

*$&!#$ Mico$:confused:ft ... the dumb browser is warning me that I'm trying to open a web site that was specifically added to my "trusted" list (to compensate for another M$ bug I encountered earlier) .... I'm so glad I've been slowly moving everything to Linux.

With BD, as the Gold requalification threshold is so low (38,000 EQM/year if you're already Gold), I don't worry too much about qualifying. It's all about jumping on the right good-deal or mistake Q-UP (preferably refundable) once one surfaces. When good ones come along (like TPA-ONT), or phenomenal ones (MSP-GEG), it's very easy to requalify and simultaneously rack-up buckets of miles with a relatively small number of weekends spent traveling. |

Hopefully you will qualify. That would be excellent. ^
I think I'll add the VA to tomorrow's to-do list. |

I was wrong. I only have 7 in that pile now. I'm getting four or five more when I get rid of this one  Slowly they're getting out of here, though... I disposed of 5 via Freecycle a week or two ago. I've got more in the basement...

Where have you seen that kind of fare? I'd be up for it too... Chicago is great!

Sweet. I would think that if the flight inbound was timed right, we could do a Friday lunchtime arrival and play the par-3 after landing, and then play 36 on Saturday. Fly home Sunday. The courses are not even 20 minutes from el aeropuerto.
