gbyran should start a thread in the Hilton forum:

Paid for King, received two doubles, others received kings. :D

Dont tempt me. Ive already raised enough  in the Hilton forum for my other stays at the Hilton MSY, Hilton NASA, Hilton TXL, Hilton ..... I have only had one bad stay at a DT and it was in Costa Rica, other than that all my lower end HH properties have been just fine, with the exception of always asking if I have been upgraded or for breakfast certs.

Seems CO40 (IAH - EWR) and I are becoming fast friends.

WWBD: 1A/B or 3F on 739ER on transcon?

Tough choice for me on that one. Normally I'd go 1B — but on the 739ER there's not quite as much room in that bulkhead. But I think I'd still do it for the faster meal service, guaranteed meal choice, nobody reclining into you, and access to the aisle.

This Hilton is the worst property I've come across when dealing with HHonors elites.

The only Hilton in NY I've dealt with is the Millenium Hilton. It's excellent, and only once as a Gold or Diamond have I not been upgraded to at least a junior suite.

We're going to be there September 11-12 and had a very hard time finding rooms to use our SPG free weekend nights on.

Use Hilton's online check in. You can see what type of room they're pre-assigned to before arrival, so you know to get it fixed if it's wrong. It's also especially helpful if you know you're going to be arriving really late.

I should have done that but the one time I actually did it I was staying at the Hilton SEA. Upon check-in the guy said let me give you a better room, this is the worst room in the hotel. It was right next to the elevator and half the size of the typical rooms. Because of this, I have always just waited to check in fearing that the next person wont be so nice to tell me the room sucks. It would be really helpful if they showed you a layout of the hotel (ie. exit map they have on the backs of the doors) so you can see what the rooms are like. I think they might do this at ES or at least the one in Lubbock.

WWTBD: The Westin DFW or the Sheraton Fort Worth? The Westin looks nicer but is right by the airport (worried about noise).

I am surprised they(nj govt) even let you remove a tile or turn on your own water valves to take a shower, much less work on it at all :D

I am surprised home Dept/Lowes and their DIY approach are allowed at all too...

Hush you.

Westin DFW is an excellent hotel, and has no noise issues. It is one of the new-interior Westins (dark greys and earth-tones), and has wonderful staff. I have been upgraded on every stay there to a nice corner Executive Suite. I posted a photo review in the SPG forum in that property's thread. The sometimes slow shuttle service is the only potential drawback.

You just won the un-Flyertalk Statement of the Day award with that post.

The Westin it is then. We won't need the shuttle, so no worries there! Thanks! ^

I just discovered that the deli around the corner from my office serves cream of mushroom soup that is substantially similar to that served by CO.

I want to be by the airport, but when your wife is traveling with you, her happiness and ability to get a full night's sleep is priority ;)
