Other way; FLL-PHL. I didn't know the 3.5 hour rule until I posted it a few minutes ago.

Disagree, to a point. There was a time in recent history when the American culture as a whole (excerpting certain bad apples that always screw things up) could be counted on to act and think in a different manner than today. There has been a culture shift, and not for the better.

My guess, too, is that some of the efforts to legislate common sense are efforts to forestall lawsuits. As a country, we have chosen to regulate ourselves in large part through the court system rather than through legislation, and some laws may simply be an effort to prevent this. Other people more learned in the law than I may think otherwise.

Society has not chosen to regulate itself through the court system. Society as a whole has been defaulted into that mode of regulation because the vast majority just don't care anymore.

Keep in mind that the US forum is schizophrenic -- filled with former US loyalists who have turned on the airline in the aftermath of the merger and the changes that have been made on the one hand, and people who are happy with their free upgrades to a bigger seat or who are hub captives and have decided to make the best of things. The posters in that thread (present company excepted ;)) tend to be in the first group.

That thread in particular does not present too much schizo behavior, IMO. It's a pretty reasoned discussion on the failings of US F.

Frosting on a donut, good. Burned muffin, bad. Negative connotation accomplished. :D

Surely true, but I was more making fun of their coming right out and saying essentially "this product probably doesn't work for you".

I'd disagree -- we have been defaulted into that mode of regulation because we have chosen not to regulate. Anyway, this is more of a debate for OMNI, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

There are a couple of posts in there from the usual defenders of US, saying that if they pay for Y and get F they don't care how mediocre F is.

One of the other people quoted in the article is Ruth Buzi. Sock it to me!

Did you work DCA, PHL and PDX in to the MSP-GEG routing or is that for your FLL-PDX run?

DCA, PHL, PDX are all part of the FLL-PDX fare. CLT is the only East-Coast destination I worked into the MSP-GEG fare.

I am having trouble with reading comprehension this morning. This may explain why I have made absolutely no progress with work today.

I would assume, though, that the HP company store (sic; see the URL) is targeting US employees, which makes this description a bit more defensible.

I can, however, think of no context in which "attractive but cute" makes sense.

Thoughts on AA? I had been sitting on 23K-and-change AA miles for a few years (flown them once since 2006, and I had to look in my FM to remember that). I needed a one-way NYC-DEN for December (to drive a car back to DC, dropping me off in CLE for the holidays), the CO qualification was already taken care of, and the prices weren't great...so I transferred a couple thousand *points and cleaned out my AA account on a one-way F award LGA-DFW-DEN.

Not sure if that was a supreme waste of 25K, but it'll give me a chance to go Mall of America on a new route/domestic F product/lunch/dinner that I probably would never do otherwise, at least in the near future...right?

+1. The ERJ seat seems to work for me, proportion-wise or something. I remember being on a BWI-CLE (or vice versa, not sure) flight back in June and thinking "wow, this is really quite comfy...but wait...what's wrong with this picture??" :p

I think the AA F seat is very nice. I flew it last year on an MD-80, and was pleasantly surprised. The seat was very comfy, and the legroom seemed more generous than what DL offers on its MD-80s. Be sure to bring an EmPower connector if you want to use the in-seat power, though. If you have an Amex Plat, you can also use the Admirals' Club. The ones at DFW are some of the nicest domestic lounges I have visited.

AA uses cigarette lighter-style power receptacles (same voltage as EmPower, just need a different adaptor).

IME AA F is as good as anyone else's in terms of food and service (milk and cookies are a nice touch). No IFE on the MD-80s if that matters.
