Good to know. I really would like to visit Langkawi, Malaysia next year at some point (hopefully to celebrate passing teh Bar). I may try to build a side-trip to TPE into the itinerary.

I was planning on going to TPE to start a TPE-BKI-KUL-JNB-CPT-EZE flight but inventory I need is not there :-:

Thank you. I also expect to hit up the Hyatt Resort there under the DEL5K promotion (5,000 bonus points and $150 in dinner/lunch in addition to my 1,000 diamond points, free breakfast, free internet, and standard points). Oh - I have five confirmed suite upgrades sitting around. ^

I'm using one this weekend at the St. Regis San Francisco.

Since you're a Hyatt guy: you would have loved the Grand Hyatt in TPE. It was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at (assuming you stay in one of the remodeled club level rooms). Unbelievable lounge, as well, with views of Taipei 101 and a huge breakfast spread.

I really wish that had been the 3Q promo, as I only had enough 2Q stays to earn one free night. Used it at the San Cristobal Tower in Santiago. I would be earning free nights hand over fist if that were this quarter's promo, what with all my planned MSP and ORD one-night stays.

Still a good redemption. I used mine for the St. Regis Singapore and the St. Regis San Francisco. Given that I earned them by staying at Westins, it clearly was a great deal.

I would get a mess of points (think it may be 5,000) if not put on the club level by definition; I've learned it's good to be Diamond already. :D

IIRC, there were five club levels, and we stayed on the top floor, where all the rooms had been remodeled. The club floor on which the lounge was located, however, had older-style doors and hallway furnishings similar to the non-remodeled floors. I didn't see any of the rooms on that club floor, but I wondered if some of the club levels are not remodeled.

That was the first Hyatt I had stayed at in a couple of years, and I was definitely impressed.

It is 2 awards TPE-KUL 21K and KUL-EZE 87 K
but I was going to buy a ticket for $1500 with allowed stopovers in KUL and CPT/JNB

Well, today started out rather  and then turned  but now it's getting :) Maybe I'll go for a bike ride with my kids later to end the day on a  note. ^

It was weird how similar the San Cristobal Tower was to the Park Tower Buenos Aires. Both are Towers Concepts connected to Sheraton Convention Centers, and both looks absolutely identical in terms of interior design. I recall reading somewhere that many of the South American SPG properties are owned by the same company. If so, that would make sense. Without looking out the windows of your room, it would be impossible to tell which hotel you were in.

Are those one-way or roundtrip J redemption rates? If that's roundtrip, KUL-EZE with a stopover in CPT is an insane mileage redemption value.
