With all the special events I've had this week, beef ribs would easily have qualified as my single best meal.

I'm holding off on coins until the 1st of the year - I want the spend on my HH AmEx to get me Gold. I'm too far from the spend target at this late time of the year. I might still do small orders on my Green card to boost the MR point balance.

Are you getting your $1,000 AMEX travelers checks each month too? My coin orders keep getting canceled. I'll keep trying every few weeks but I've pretty much given up. I got em for about $25k.

I changed my reward ticket to PRG to a more desireable time. This required a routing change so Im not flying AA/BA/IB with a JFK-LHR-PRG-LHR-MAD-JFK and get to try AA's 777 and IB's A340-600. Has anyone in the box flown either of these planes? If so do you have pics or can you point me to decent ones? I have until Tuesday to ticket the res.

Thanks for the info. I'll check the rates and  accordingly.

I also really need to figure out which hotel program I want to take the loyalty lead going forward. This is an ongoing  with me that always leaves me mid-tier everywhere, which is not maximizing anything.

I'd do SPG but they just aren't in enough places I travel to. Although the current promotion is pretty good for stock-piling points for the honeymoon. :-:

Their is a Hampton near the airport with shuttle that was good and I dont remember any aircraft noise but then again that was the Sunday after the CO DO on a flight to SFO with SFOGATE so I dont remember much ;)!

A good night at the wine bar here. Still trying to convince the owner (guy who works the CC deals with CO) that he needs to get the Wine Bar on 5 miles per dollar. i would easily have 5000 points by now.

I was wishing he's stopped and spun up before taking off after seeing the lights at the end of the runway out the window and feeling the gear come up right before the end.

Sometimes those 739s scare me when departing. Think those GEs are being pushed to the limit with the stretched 737? :)

My funnest departure out of SFO was on a fully loaded 733 that was a last minute swap for a 73G going to CLE. For one, I had no clue that the 733 had the legs for the trip. Secondly, I think we came damn close to dragging wheels in the bay as the pilot took just about every inch of the runway.

The very first CO flight for me was a 733 for PHX-EWR so they had the legs way back then. As for long take offs, keep in mind they don't use 100% power to at take off so they can save fuel. If you take off from BRS with a short runway and full load you notice they push the levers one extra time to get it up to 100% and you get a bat out of hell take off.

I wouldn't worry about the stretching of the 737 as the 900 is essential a 727-200 and that plane had no problems and the fuselage in front of the wing was longer on that plane.

It sounds fun, and it is definitely something I'd love to do at some point.

I'll share photos after I'm back. For those familiar with Rocky Mountain National Park, we're going to be in the Wild Basin area.

The drive will definitely be  (15-16 hours from the Chicago burbs to Estes Park), but probably less  than trying to fly with all of the camping gear.
