I looked in to this option and the ride to our hotel + hotel to airport + airport to home when we returned was over $300. I was able to get a 2 day Luxury rental from National for just about $60 (used a free day as well). I'd much rather save money on the ground transportation in NJ and spend it on something that will create a longer lasting memory at one of our destinations.

To me, it was a no brainer...

I agree with you, and you also get a rental credit to keep your executive status.^ Looks like your a few days too early for the new National Promotion though.

Should definitely delay the wedding for that. :p

Just got off the phone with a reporter from the NYTimes. Apparently I'm going to be the subject of a piece on travel and loyalty programs. :D :D

Even better, she said they might put in a plug for my blog. More readers = more ad clicks = ^^^.

Fantastic!

Well done.

And, what's even better, is that we Boxers will be able to go round boasting to all our friends that we *know* you.. :D:D ;)

My wife and I are off for a day trip to scenic Brenham, TX, home of the original Blue Bell Creamery. Have a good un', box.

Brenham is nice when it isn't 105 degrees in the shade. I was there during bluebonnet/wildflower season. ^ Best time of year to go.

I'm not enjoying what seems to be a sustained rate-hike by National (Hertz is now often cheaper), but am only 6 rentals away from renewing Exec Elite...

Too right!

Keep that money and use it for something really cool and special while on your honeymoon.

Have a fabulous day tomorrow. All the boxers will be sending you the best of luck - enjoy the day.

I think I already know the answer to this question, but do SPG stays booked with C+P count towards stay credits?

Brituchenite Aug 7, 2009 9:07 am

I think I am going to do something that I never do.

I am going to go to a movie at lunchtime.

I want to see Julie and Julia (even though it didn't get great reviews) because I just think I would enjoy it.

Enough said.

Do you Box folk know anyone in the graphic design/print industry that could do some specialty business cards? I would prefer someone local but if there is someone with a good portfolio outside of Houston, I'd be up for it.

I'm pretty sure that jrzyshawn once had a friend tell him about "this awesome blog about Continental" that was mine. Other than that I haven't found too many fun connections like that of people who are reading my stuff, but they are always fun when they come up.

Nope, which is one reason I am still stuck at Hilton

I think it looks like a good movie, regardless of the reviews.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/02/ma...cooking-t.html [Interesting perspective on what the food/television industry has done to cooking in American homes]

We have been watching a lot of old Julia Child shows and really enjoying the way she cooked because it closely resembles what we go through in the kitchen.

The only person we've been watching lately on Food Network is Ina Garten, because she's the only one with a similar personality, who knows that mistakes do happen.

Correct. He is a big fan, he is always telling me about things he reads from your blog first. ^
