Anyone know home theater installs? I got my surround system back and the volume problem is still there, but not as bad.

Here's my ghetto text-only flowchart:
  • TV is a 52" DLP with an HDMI running to the cable box.
  • Surround sound system has component audio and video running to component jacks on the back of the TV.
  • Surround subwoofer has all five surround speakers correctly plugged in, along with properly seated control cable. Surround functions, but sound cuts out when one of the components thinks it's too loud.
  • When I had a normal DVD player installed, everything worked fine.
  • Surround system tested and is working correctly, as per a warranty repair guy, just in case. Took it in to get looked at just as a precaution. Warranty guy says cable box is to blame for my problems. Comcrap replaced the box and the problem is still there but not as severe as the first time.

What am I missing?

Do you think anyone will notice the bite marks after I bake them? :D

Those 'bite marks' are from a new fangled kitchen utensil used to poke the potato so it doesn't burst.

The Devil Dog had been kinda quiet.:D

No idea what gear you're running but I will say that cheaper consumer grade components have a clip factor that simply reduces over all signal level when they become overloaded. If the component feels that the input signal is too high, it may attenuate it such that it sounds like it is dropping out.

That said, there is no such thing as component audio. If I understand your setup correctly, the HDMI from the Comcrap box is fed directly to the TV, and that you have an RCA cable running from the TV to the surround system receiver. If that is so, does the audio drop out on the TV at random times? If not, it may be the TV that is having a hard time feeding the audio correctly after it receives it via HDMI.

Not that I know of, no. If any of the components have amps in them, they are internal. Nothing is being amplified from the outside.

If a fare credits to OnePass at 150% RDM, how does the Plat Bonus get calculated? Is the 100% Plat Bonus calculated against BIS, or the 150% RDM-Bonus amount?

But it's not random. The volume on the surround system side being turned up too high results in the audio from the surround cutting and not coming back. I have to turn the surround off and reboot it to get the audio feed back. Audio from the TV and from a non-surround DVD player behave perfectly normal. The component video cables are running correctly between the Y/Pb/Pr jacks on the surround and the TV respectively and red/white audio are in the red/white spots.

I believe it's off the base.

Been a while since I booked one, but I think the Platinum bonus is only calculated against BIS miles, regardless of fare class.

Oh , i was gonna say sometimes on the amplifier there are settings like cinema, concert hall, etc that affect the sound.

The way it should work in your case is

CABLE box hdmi output to TV hdmi input
TV audio out to speakers , make sure the settings on the tv are set for surround sound
