It's quite likely we would travel outside the US on UA next year. However, the way I understand UA's 1K program is that it takes 150,000 EQMs to get the SWUs, which I wouldn't achieve this year.

Another  for tonight. I was asked to review something before it gets sent out. Its writing style screams the 1980's. How do you comment on something that needs style and word uses advanced three decades with out sounding mean. (being still grumpy from the ealier 12 doesn't help)

No I wouldnt miss the Party Flight. HMMM if only that was UA DEQMable.

I thought just making 1K earned some SWUs.

"Teh" comes from typing quickly and misspelling "the". We use it almost exclusively in place of "the" in here. And if you want to achieve true Box Denizen status, it is strongly suggested that you get to know the regulars and players by reading teh thread from teh beginning. :D

Yes, must read from page one till now!!

I'd be willing to rent a car and chauffeur you around wherever you wanted as well :D As long as it involved going to Napa/sonoma. there is also a DC-3 air tour there at the sonoma valley airport I want to check out(find info on, I'd be willing to spend a little on it but the operating costs of that thing are so high I'd think it will be over $1000, not something I'd be willing to spend.)

I would love to get a ride in a DC-3. My dream is to some how get myself onto a flight of the CO DC-3 at the Lonestar Flight museum. Need to talk to dad to work that angle.

We must put together a FT DO to go see this movie. ^

Why have a DO, we can wait and it will be on a CO flight soon enough and fly somewhere and drink at the movie!!

I am too tired to fight .bomb to find the link, but I was under the impression that you get 6 SWUs and 2 CR-1s for qualifying and then an additional two SWUs for each additional 50,000 EQM and an additional 2 CR-1s per 10,000 BIS miles on UA per quarter. The "1K upgrade" page is maddeningly vague about this.

kingalien Sep 2, 2009 8:47 pm

1Ks get 6 SWUs deposited in your account at the beginning of the year although you can elect to get 2 right away (then 4 more at the beginning of the year). You get another 2 SWUs for every 50k miles after 100k.

UA 1K elite benefits

Thanks. I was under the impression that you got SWUs just for making 1K also, but then when I looked at the page it doesn't really state that, so I thought maybe I had just imagined that. Glad I was wrong.

UA could be a LOT clearer on that 1K upgrade page. Reading it makes it sound like CR-1s might or might not happen each quarter (the use of the word "may" makes it sound like it's not automatic), and there's no mention of SWUs until 150,000 EQMs.

Now, I really have to decide. Go after 1K for the SWUs for next year or stick with just what I'm planning to fly on UA, get 1P, and forgo the SWUs (but get more miles on CO.

You'll need a mod with you on that flight, now won't you? ;)

How short of 1k are you?

If you know that you're doing a couples trip overseas in teh pointy end next year, it's nicer to burn SWUs than miles. @:-)
