Why? IAD is about 100 miles further than ATL, but that's still less than an hour flight. Personally, as much I loathe IAD, i'd rather connect there than ATL.

That would be a US-Africa/Middle East reward with a stopover in Europe for 120k unless you use VS on any of the segments. A few months ago, I had JFK-DXB-JNB//CPT-DXB-ZRH-AMS-IAD booked on EK and KL for 120k (didn't end up flying it, though).

I read that as well, though I honestly think UA is in a slightly better position as it has assets that can a) be sold and b) desired. Seriously, what does US have?
NRT and the SFO pacific network by far are the largest. Some speculated that DL's primary reasoning for wanting NW was for the trans-pac network that DL was having a problem building on it's own.

PHX hub but that may only be of value to WN since it allows for a really easy expansion in PHX if that's in their cards.

Honestly I don't think PHX is worth much. With how entrenched WN is there and the fact that aside from a few Canadian and Mexican flights, it's mostly just domestic.
IMHO, CLT is the only real asset with the large number of banks down there. But it is still pretty close to both ATL and IAD.

I don't think that IAD is a good option for a hub in the South East at all. Picking up CLT would actually bring some value to the table, I think.

Wobbly-bonkers, dear man, wobbly-bonkers. Not wobbly-wonkers! |
My second favorite World Series moment is about to be shown on Yes from the 1998 WS.

BNA and DFW are the leading candidates for the Devils road game. Opening Night is Devils vs. Flyers in Newark and my mother has already requested group space. October 3rd at 7pm.

Official temperature yesterday: 97 degrees :td:
It's much cooler today, thank god. The Bay Area is not meant to be hot. |

Give it time, the stay requirement may go away. Future loads are way too light for the airlines not to be flexible.
My new rule for now is that i'm not paying more than $600 for a coach ticket anywhere, at least for personal travel. I suspect we'll be seeing a nice set of deals on the horizon with the way the earnings announcements and future bookings are looking. The next six months should be some prime mileage running. |

Where is IAD 100 miles further than ATL from? The two are 534 miles apart. I don't think that ATL and CLT in the same company make much sense just like ATL and MEM don't make much sense. But either ATL or CLT does make sense for a S.E. USA hub to me. |
