Wait, I'm in a few YouTube vidoes, does that mean I can inflate my head to diva celebrity status and mention that in letters? Let's be honest, the Will it Blend guy is more famous than UPS whiteboard guy.

My new rule for now is that i'm not paying more than $600 for a coach ticket anywhere, at least for personal travel. I suspect we'll be seeing a nice set of deals on the horizon with the way the earnings announcements and future bookings are looking.

If you end up finding NYC-HKG for $600 (ai?) in Feb. let me know. ^:D:rolleyes::-: Better if it's a J/C/F mistake. :D:rolleyes::-:

Do you actually want to stop in MUC, CPT and DXB? If not then you're looking at a US-Africa reward with a stopover. If you do want all three stops then I do not believe that it can be done reasonably with CO's program. You've got three one-way rewards there if you want all three stops since they are all different series (US-EU, EU-Africa, Mid-East-US).

I want a stop in MUC and CPT. I want DXB just for the 777 to IAH ;)

So, based on an article I read yesterday, US may go before UA. It seems like US has already leveraged all of their assets while UA still has a fair amount left.

I don't know - my ex-girlfriend was absolutely transfixed when those stupid UPS commercials came on. She would even stop talking ...

I had a UA NYC-HKG fare pretty close, but alas it wasn't SWU'able so I passed on it.

I've never seen those stupid UPS commericals or at least I don't remember seeing them.

That sounds a LOT like a US-S.Africa trip with a single stopover and a single open-jaw to me. It should price at 90K one-way for the outbound because that's what the VS to S. Africa costs and then whatever half of an EK routing would cost.

I read that as well, though I honestly think UA is in a slightly better position as it has assets that can a) be sold and b) desired. Seriously, what does US have?

NRT and the SFO pacific network by far are the largest. Some speculated that DL's primary reasoning for wanting NW was for the trans-pac network that DL was having a problem building on it's own.

Interestingly enough, at the dinner with Capt Flanagan he passed out books about the History of United. In it is a route map circa 2001 which showed how great of an international network they used to have. Kinda sad to see all those lines gone.

In 2008 I did it for $650ish. I booked JFK-LAX-HKG and reverse. I got E+ on the p.s. and 5 seats to myself in the middle of the 744 on the LAX-HKG segment. On the return the LAX-JFK went MX so I routed via SFO for a few extra miles. And I managed to see the fireworks in HKG for new years. Great trip!

PHX hub but that may only be of value to WN since it allows for a really easy expansion in PHX if that's in their cards.

Honestly I don't think PHX is worth much. With how entrenched WN is there and the fact that aside from a few Canadian and Mexican flights, it's mostly just domestic.

IMHO, CLT is the only real asset with the large number of banks down there. But it is still pretty close to both ATL and IAD.

Nothing in particular. Was looking at doing IAH-MUC//LHR-JNB-CPT-DXB-IAH and was having trouble figuring out which category (or categories) that fell under. I would have to book it as separate rewards (IAH-MUC) and then LHR-JNB-CPT and DXB-IAH.

That would be a US-Africa/Middle East reward with a stopover in Europe for 120k unless you use VS on any of the segments. A few months ago, I had JFK-DXB-JNB//CPT-DXB-ZRH-AMS-IAD booked on EK and KL for 120k (didn't end up flying it, though).
