Yeah, I've already figured out I'll probably have to call in to book this thing if it's to a city CO doesn't serve outright. I thought about Spain, which we both love, but we've both been there (just not together). It's still a possibility, but I'm kind of in the mood to do something totally new for both of us this trip.

From the AF lounge at JFK where I have just demolished three glasses of Pommery and there is still nearly two hours to flight time. :D

Lisbon is a terrific weekend during the winter months. The temps are moderate and there is plenty to do and see in the old city and the Barrio Alto. Include a trip out to Cascais and Estoril to see the surfers and the casino which is another very good option. I do like Lisbon for a long weekend.

Already starting out to be one of those  weeks. I have to drive to Austin tomorrow for a meeting, the only redeeming part being the ability to check out the Arboretum Renaissance.

Mackieman, I am about to get my TX DL tomorrow. How long was the wait for yours? It's $24, correct? What do I need to bring, other than my out-of-state DL? The $24, how did you pay? Cash? Check? I hate dealing w/ driver's licensing.

Good suggestion — I hadn't even plugged in Lisbon as a possibility.

We'll actually have a full week available. I'm looking at a Saturday departure the weekend before Thanksgiving and returning Saturday or Sunday the weekend after Thanksgiving.

You'll need the valid out-of-state drivers license (which they will keep) and a piece of secondary photo identification (such as a passport). You'll also need your car registration and proof of insurance paperwork just in case. Fill out the form, they'll do a vision test, thumb print, and picture. Cost is $24, cash or check. No credit/debit accepted for reasons passing my personal understanding. Be prepared to wait a while since Texas DPS doesn't do appointments. Also, since they rolled out the new driver license format and had a computer virus shut down their license manufacturing office, of which there is only one here in Austin, there has been a back log. Normally it takes about four to six weeks to get the actual license, but I was cautioned eight to ten weeks. I got mine in about five weeks. Your mileage may vary.

It's a nice property, but it has been a while since I was there. Drove by it the other day, though. :)

I got six years and my wife got five. No rhyme or reason as far as I can tell.

Lisbon would be great and I will envy you if you go. I've done the BF fare sales the last few years to top off the plat and normally was too late to grab Lisbon (booked later than this!).

Well, if you have a whole week, Asia seems to be all the rage with boxers lately. :-:

Paypal keeps forcing me to enter a Savings or Checking account for some purchases. Says the amount exceeds my purchasing limit ($25 ).

Am I unrealistic in not wanting to give them this info?
