:D I wasn't sure if this deserved PerroInsider intervention.

You could play this one of two ways, send a box of doggie treats to the teacher or leave a poopie calling card on the teacher's welcome mat. :D

Right now, the latter sounds better.

What happened to music videos on MTV?

I remember when MTV started. I thought it wouldn't last a season. Who wants to watch music when you could be doing other things while listening to it.....then I got hooked. Now I only watch it when they show music specials or music trivia shows.

For the people who can tolerate his inaccuracies regarding the airline biz, the new Vince Flynn novel comes out on October 13.

My wife laughs at me when listening to his books as I rail on about how AA doesn't fly widebody international flights out of IAD.

I finally got someone to look at it and the code was very incorrect: they had me in for a pregnancy test.. Once it got coded properly I was covered.

The coding system is very complex and usually not filled out by MD's but by coders who have to read the medical record and determine the level of service provided as well as the service rendered. This makes miscoding a common event. Most of the time the patient never sees the consequences since the physician's office receives the denial of claim, and they do the resubmissions. However, in cases where the patient is responsible for the bill, then it becomes the patients onus to find and correct the mistake.

The biggest problem with the system is that it is not stable. Codes change continuously as well as documentation needed to justify those codes. As I said, it is a nightmare out here.

We'll see. I doubt I can do this one now that I read more about it; they want a 15-minute network-clean set on DVD. I couldn't write 15 minutes in time for the first round of the competition, much less get it paced and timed and recorded.

Helium in Philly offers a standup academy. Might do that once the teaching thing gets rolling. One can never stop learning about how to be in front of a group of people.

Something just occurred to me, for whatever the thought is worth. Would an author (of fiction, for the purpose of the example) deliberately flip-flop some amount of detail like that if for no other reason to avoid mentioning something factual that is attached to a corporate name who may or may not object to mention in said work of fiction?

in fiction, yes they would.

I may stand corrected: I'm reading Chapter 1 of the new Flynn and he got an airline and city pair correct: he references a US commuter flight DCA-LGA.

ConciergeMike Aug 25, 2009 12:18 pm

The real Vince Flynn is MSP-based. I guess terrorists won't be hijacking any DL flights in his books. :p

I suppose that might be possible, but I don't know that UA, AA, or any other airline would really care if they were mentioned, provided it wasn't a qualitative statement about the company or its products, which Flynn never does insofar as I can remember. But I'm not an author so what do I know.

ConciergeMike Aug 25, 2009 12:22 pm

The only qualitative statements I can remember reading in Flynn novels were a few glowing reviews, via a character, of a certain small-frame 9mm pistol. I'd never heard the name until I read the book, and to my surprise it's a real company. I think it was DekTronics.

I know nothing about medical coding, but it seems to me that a lot of health care savings could be had just by standardizing all the various codes and insurance forms amongst all of the various insurers and health care providers.

Yeah, but he cites an AA BWI-MXP flight in one of the ones I read. Fail.

Did those of you with the Pres Plus M/C just receive the e-mail about the complimentary food and wine tasting "cardmember advisory" at Mortons The Steakhouse in NYC on Sept 23rd?
