I felt s:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: safe with the extra identification checks that the TSA was giving in SLC this morning prior to boarding. The overwhelming sense of satisfaction was hard to keep down, oh I'm sorry that was the biscoffs I had eaten on the flight from SFO.

 Destinations for Work, 2001-Present: Bakersfield, CA Alpine, TX (At least it was scenic, with some great local restaurants) Greenwood, SC Worland, WY Española, NM (Single worst client I've ever had — I absolutely refuse to ever go back) Huntsville, AL Greenville, NC Nacogdoches, TX Huntsville, TX Baton Rouge, LA :mad::mad: Vernal, UT Grand Junction, CO Greeley, CO Benton Harbor, MI (Fortunately I wasn't shot while there; they do have some of the best ribs you'll find anywhere, and you can get your car washed and its oil changed while grubbing, and possibly dodging a stray bullet or two.) Archbold, OH Lubbock, TX Pasadena, TX Tyler, TX Montevallo, AL (Single worst place I think I've ever slept in my life) Beaumont, TX Port Arthur, TX (Included working with a guy who admitted his father was a Klan member who was quite hostile — fortunately he called in sick the day after Election Day last November when I was there) Conway, AR Tulsa, OK Orlando, FL (another client I'd refuse to return to) Best places I've been sent: New York, NY Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN Los Angeles, CA Denver, CO Dallas, TX (Looks pretty good when you see the rest of my list) |

Remember the delightful days in the years just post 911 when they would pick you out of the boarding line, and go through your carry-on, so that by the time you got to board, there was no place left to put the carry-on?

Yep. It's a private, non-denominational, fundamentalist institution. They have rules against a lot of things. I'm surprised they let me set foot on their property. But they are really, really nice people and I do like working here, even if their rules require me to be extra careful with what goes on an expense report (or how it gets reported), and I have to avoid too much conversation about my personal life.
For some reason I've managed to get a reputation at work of being a good consultant to send to such institutions. This is the 5th or 6th one I've had in four years. There was one that had a "covenant employment agreement" you had to sign at the time of hire, and adhere to as a condition of employment. I saw it once, and realized that of the 20 or so items on the list you swore not to do while their employee, I had done at least 15-17 of them at some point in recent history. The worst part was you weren't just promising not to do these things on their property; you were promising not to do them at home or anywhere else, either. I did get busted by that client once. I went out to dinner at a pizza place near their campus, and ordered a pint to go with my pizza. A few minutes later a guy from the accounting office I worked with walked in with his wife and kids, saw me, stopped by my table to chat, and the entire time his wife was fixated on the beer. Fortunately he was pretty laid back and didn't worry about it. But she had this death stare on that glass. Had the roles been reversed, and she had been the person I was working with, I'm sure my management would have heard about it. Did you hear banjo music the entire time you were there? |

Your feelings are not shared by other UA 1Ks. There is a famous thread where a standby 1K dealing with a WX delay and was passed over for 3 guys going to SYD. UA rolled over and gave him compensation.
