Yeah. They actually gave us a bottle of booze (Arak, I think) on the way out. Forced me to check my bag on the return flight 'cause it was too big for a kippie bag. We were basically looking for any option that didn't involve driving since we knew the booze would flow, and it was that or the gala ball at the Meridien. For half the price we got a much better meal and party, I think.

I always get some weird looks with my Russian visa as well. I'd say the German immigration officials glared at it the longest.

The Germans and the Russians haven't always been the best of friends.

So true. The guy even called one of his buddies over to check it out. I was only there for a weekend (cheap CGN fare a few years ago) so I was a little worried to say the least. Fortunately, they stamped my passport, smiled and sent me on my way.

In unrelated news, got my passport back today with Russian Visa inside. 9 Days total from shipping to receipt. I've been pretty pleased with PassportExpress so far (used them for Passport Renewal and a Brazilian Visa a while back, as well).

Do they do Saudi visas? I and a few fellow co-workers are tired of dragging our butts down to the Saudi consulate.

Some of my colleagues have reported extra passport scrutiny due to having a Russian visa.

Speaking of visa I actually had a positive experience with the Indian consulate in IAH. In a move of sheer irony they've outsourced the Visa processing to an American travel service company who runs the application, collection and return of the passports. Anyways you go online, fill out a form, print it out, pay online, then drop off the passport and then pick it up later that day.

As there's no paying at the office (or at least I did not see anyone doing so or any means to accept payment) and all the information's pre-processed the line moved quickly.

The downside is that I'm almost out of space in the PP and need more pages...and doubt the department of state will be as easy to deal with.

I've heard that it is much easier to do at a foreign consulate, but have no personal experience.

I'm also disappointed that they made it so easy. I had a blast wasting a day in line at the Indian consulate here in NYC back in 05...

Eagle Scout Reception and March of Dimes

Thought it best to post here instead of starting a new thread.

I think that it is very comendable for CO to still take the time and money to donate to organizations even though these are not the best of times.

Last night, I along with 500+ Eagle Scouts from the Sam Houston Area Council were invited to attended a "Gathering of Eagles" at IAH in the new CO hanger. Chelsa provided the food and I assume CO provided the tables and av for the event. In addition, they parked a 737-900 in the hanger for us to go through. The Governor of Texas was the Keynote Speaker with Larry being the opening speaker till turning it over to the MC. About 6 or 8 CO employees were there and after the event, Larry stayed around to chat with them and sign my CO coffee saucer (auction item from DO III). CO also provided parking and transportation to the venue. This is the second Scouting event that I have been to where CO and Larry were present, the other was the 2006 Eagle Reception at the Houston Office that I helped do the reception food and he was the Honorary Chair of that event and they gave out knives with CO and Larry Kellner Class of Eagles on the side.

CO is also continuing to give to the March of Dimes both through their own financial commitments from the standpoint of the direct donations and from the sales of equipment that they no longer use in the benefit of the organization. Sure they get a tax write off, but they are making sure that the money goes to a worthy cause.

These are but two of the reasons that I continue to say CO is my airline of choice. I fly them religious and belief that they do work hard to give me a great product at a reasonable price.

Congrats!! Don't forget about studying for the Bar, too. That's the test that really counts. ;)

On my EWR-DFW flight last night, a whopping 17 people. No wonder the 735s are so inefficient. :)
