Those dates work for me.

Also, for a cheap easy DO during the week would be Brother Jimmy's. They usually have some type of special; all you can eat and drink for 2 hours for around $25.

While we're at it we could hit up Air Tindi and First Air and get a ride on a Hawker Siddeley 748 and a Dash-7

First Air and Air Tindi have quite the fleet as well!

Now, the question is - who does a better job at maintaining old aircraft? Mountain men and Eskimos or drunk Russian cab drivers? :D

I've already flow a few DC-3's, although the last time was in 1987 (BOS-ACK). Wouldn't mind doing it again, though.

How does one get to Yellowknife? AC?

I would be up for golf.

Air Canada via Calgary would be the way to do it.

Brother Jimmy's is not bad for a place in the city trying to cook Q and we frequently order out from their place on 2d and 78th. I like their Southern style slab with the vinegar sauce with the Dry Rub a close second. The only problem with a group going there is that you can't hear yourself talk, no less carry on a conversation.

So there it is...I finally sold CO out for the first time in years. Since there are absolutely no milage-UG'able seats IAH-HNL, I bought one on NW IAH-MSP-PDX-HNL and used my miles to UG the whole leg. Now, I know that NW serves HNL with standard FC from PDX, but it is a reward trip from work so I figured that I would go ahead and tie one on on the flight! Plus, a day at Mt. St. helens would be really cool, IMHO.

I hope that the EUA gods don't frown on me for the sellout....

Dino in Harlem is pretty good too. Not as strong as their SYR and ROC brethren, but still worth a visit. They also have a good house pale ale provided by Middle Ages Brewery in SYR.

I wonder how many of us NY CO'ers are ex-US.

As of now the 6th + 14th are fine for me too. I might even be able to drag my blonder half down. She's convinced I'm autistic (she teaches SpEd) when it comes to anything aviation. It'll be nice to show her I'm on the lower end of the spectrum. :o

Seems like quite a few!

Ok, Keeley's has agreed to set up a Belgian beer tasting for us on May 14th...mmmmmm......

As for BBQ, those previously mentioned places are fine, however for Texas BBQ you can't beat Hill Country on W. 26th. My local crew of transplanted Texans swears by the place.

May 14, done deal. My flight gets into LGA about 5 so we can't do it too early. But we can stay late. :D

They will likely demand a sacrifice and you should obey. Remember what happened to Greg Brady on his trip to the Islands...:D

Damn, I forgot about Hill Country. That is the BEST in NYC. Brother Jimmys just came to mind because of the 2 hour specials they have.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a MR, but it would be for banked miles to spend later (as opposed to status). I took a look in the MR forum a week or two back, but couldn't really make head or tails of it.

haha - no newsletter.

Rather I just hung around this popsicle stand long enough to start to figure things out.

For example 'back in the day' CO had a neat routing where you could buy a one way AUS-DFW ticket (~45 all in) but route through CLE and IAH. Ergo, for $90 you could go AUS-IAH-CLE-DFW-CLE-IAH-AUS and this yielded ~5,220 (.017 $/eqm) EQMs. Plus at the same time they were running the Chase double miles promo...so if you were a plat, and had signed up for the bonus, you'd rack up about 17,000 RDMs (.0053 $/RDM) from this boondoggle.

In perspective this means 75,000 EQMs would cost about $1,275 and if you were after a QF F award (back when it was 135,000) the spend would only be ~$716. (and of course this omits food, lodging, driving, etc. costs)

Nowadays it's not as easy as it use to be but if you hang out on the MR forum enough you'll glean some nuggets of information.

For example CO has great fares out of ZFV (philly's 30th st train station) and you can often grab the non-stop transcons.
