I've always wondered - how do people typically find good fares from ZFV? FareCompare does not recognize that as a valid departure city. Do people just do random searches from ZFV on CO.com or hope that it shows up as a nearby "airport"?

I'm not opposed to the idea of a MR, but it would be for banked miles to spend later (as opposed to status). I took a look in the MR forum a week or two back, but couldn't really make head or tails of it.

[QUOTE=J.Edward;9656882]haha - no newsletter.

For example 'back in the day' CO had a neat routing where you could buy a one way AUS-DFW ticket (~45 all in) but route through CLE and IAH. Ergo, for $90 you could go AUS-IAH-CLE-DFW-CLE-IAH-AUS and this yielded ~5,220 (.017 $/eqm) EQMs. Plus at the same time they were running the Chase double miles promo...so if you were a plat, and had signed up for the bonus, you'd rack up about 17,000 RDMs (.0053 $/RDM) from this boondoggle.

How long ago was this?

I just got in the game about a year and a half ago.

If that is an obscure Simpsons' reference, then I salute you.

All NYC'ers, don't forget about this annual gorge fest that's coming up.

A GREAT event, unfortunately I will be out of town for it this year. Any NYC'ers who enjoy chili, the annual Lonestar Chili Cookoff is not to be missed.

(Thanks everyone for whetting my appetite as I'm about to board a no-snack, no-meal service to RDU :( )

It's been a couple of years — around 2005. Like many other things, it disappeared after being posted on FlyerTalk IIRC.

You think the airlines monitor the MR forum to make sure we are all not cashing in?

I think the smarter airlines do, to find out mistake fares on their own systems.

...or through people calling in to book them. :rolleyes:

Hahaha... Some airlines are either too dumb, or their employees just don't care. How long was that AZ business class deal from Toronto to Cyprus stayed on? Long time, I believe. The managers probably think, "We don't care. The Italian Government can bail us out..."

Hows that plan working out for them?

I have to say superbly! Mismanaged for decades, haven't made a dime for years, and it's still flying today, and no one laid off yet!

I've never been that impressed by the BBQ event in Madison Square Park. The BBQ is pretty decent, but the crowds are ridiculous and there is nowhere to relax and enjoy the grub. And considering the number of decent shops that have cropped up in town recently (R.U.B. is another one I enjoy, at 23rd & 7th), I don't fancy waiting in line to overpay for food that I'm likely to drop and a beer that I'm going to have trouble balancing while trying to eat my food, hence causing me to drop the food. I'd rather just get some decent BBQ and a pitcher of beer and be done with it.

They definitely do. If any of the majors were not, they certainly started after Flyertalk/Mileage Run Forum made the news because of the AZ YYZ-LCA $29 J fare incident.

It was only up for something like 16 hours, IIRC. It was first posted in the middle of the night, then ended late morning.
