Which brings up another question: we all know how many beeraholics are in The Box, but how many golfers do we have here? I REALLY have a thing in my head for playing the RTJ Trail, and if there's enough interest, who's to say we can't do a CO 36-hole DO?

I guess it depends on how you define "golfer." The highlight of my last round, (spring '06 in Phoenix), was when the guy I was playing with drove over to the back yard of a house on the 16th fairway and his brother-in-law brought out 4 more beers for us, since the bar cart wasn't going to make it around again. I almost matched strokes for ounces that day (84 oz & 108 strokes, I think). On the plus side, I know my golf limits on the course, so when I'm playing badly I just pick up and move on so as to not slow the rest of the world down. If you can handle that type of golfer then I'd likely be up for it at some point.

Or does this just make me a beeraholic who knows how to pick up golf clubs? :D

This aptly describes the extent of my (admittedly pathetic) golfing abilities.

As badly as I suck at putt-putt, I can't imagine how bad I'd be at real golf.

Anyone want to go to Yellowknife, Canada to fly on a DC-3? :D I know these aren't Russian rust-buckets, but check out Buffalo Airways' fleet!

You guys rock. Now I don't feel like an idiot for carrying around two computers and two phones. :)

Ah, one of those people. ;) That's ok...I have to be dragged to cross to the East side...I know the park is only 3 ave's wide, but it might as well be another borough.

Any suggestions on a date? I figure we should try to give a couple weeks notice, on the off chance some non-regular Box readers want to come, too.
I've emailed the owner to see what kegs are coming up next, and when we may reach maximum Belgian density at the taps. I'm out May 8-12, and the 15th. Is there a day of the week that works better for most??

Actually I recall seeing you on the ES a few years ago on the way to the RoachFest. :) Since they started to clean it up, we go over to the WS once in a while and last year we actually got out of the car twice, once at a place on Columbus Ave for brunch and once on Bway for Chinese food. ^:)^

I would like to try out some Belgians at that place on Amsterdam and 83rd and the best days for me (if LGA is nearly on time) would be the 5th or the 14th. Also do-able are the 6th and 16th.

I thought the east side WAS another borough. I'm not really one of those people; I'm just lazy and live in Chelsea so traveling uptown is slightly annoying. Going both up and over requires exigent circumstances.

Date wise, May 7th and 13th are out for me, but otherwise I should be available.

You and Otter and Rolov are how I started to play, minus the beer. I've never been a fan of drinking on the course, but that doesn't mean that I'm not open to persuasion. I'm a low-100's shooter...career low round is 98. I'm also working on a professional certification in golf-based travel.

I don't have my datebook handy as I just rolled out of bed, but the Trail has two sites that are less than a 20-minute drive from BHM...one is a 54-hole property: 2 full-size 18's and an 18-hole par-3 course, and the other property is a single 18. The greens fees at the 54-hole property range from $43 to $64, so there's no guilt in paying high greens fees that may or may not match one's abilities (mine included). While I wouldn't call myself someone who picks up, I'm not a snarky quasi-pro either. I just don't have the time I would like to dedicate to my game. Gotta run or I'm gonna be late for my car stereo install...I'm up for it at some point if you 3 are.

Count me in for a NYC box DO.

I generally have no idea where I'll be (or where I am for that matter) more then a week in advance for M - TH. Nothing crazy looks like it's creeping up for May, so I guess any day is as good as any otter. Fridays, however, are perpetually bad.

Good point...a free ride to PHL with a couple of US Roaches was certainly worth it. ^

Ok, looks like the 6th or the 14th would work. I'll put this outside of the Box and try to get a few more people...

YES! ^ ^ ^

While we're at it we could hit up Air Tindi and First Air and get a ride on a Hawker Siddeley 748 and a Dash-7

I was actually looking into traveling to Yellowknife earlier this year, just for the hell of it. I didn't even know they had DC-3s up there!!! Count me in.
