I might have to start flying UA just for the cert potential.

I'm not sure if it has a set value of $200. My experience has been a $200 UA Customer Relations Discount Travel Cert. per skykit episode. Those results appear to be fairly commonly reported on the UA forum. I'm no expert in this area, and am just beginning to enjoy the gravy train. Perhaps our resident UA Compensation expert, J.Edward could weigh in...

The only downside to the Certs are the T&C's "Only one discount certificate, discount voucher, or discount may be used per ticket."

Remind me again what the options are when sending in a Skykit - a discount certificate, or 5000 miles, or something else?

Don't recall. Obviously, I got Certs. Even though they don't appear to be combinable, they do have value on the secondary (CC) market ;)

ALCO, I've picked up a BD account, on account of the SA travel I have planned. Any suggestions on fast tracking my way to BD gold and if possible getting on the UA gravy train at the same time.

I do not know for sure, but I'm sure someone else does.

Rumors on a.net is that LH will buy out BD soon.

Edit: Well, maybe more than just an a.net rumor:

Yep - BD is ripe for a takeover.

This Thread in the UA Forum appears to treat the matter thoroughly. It looks like there's no set value per se.

I haven't flown BD since 2002.

colpuck Apr 25, 2008 1:44 pm

I will try and get a status match, and post the results.

You will still have another year or so to accrue in BD before they merge the programs.
