If you tell us your secret DO routing
your upgrade will clear :D

If I did that, my upgrades for the Do would never clear. :p

EDIT: Don't get your hopes up - my routing won't be anything too earth shattering.

That sucks. That's usually an easy route to get upgraded on as a Platinum, especially on NW operated flights.

You might check Fort Davis — there are several nice, unique places there. Also, in Alpine, the Maverick Inn is where I usually stay for work (but go for the deluxe, not the standard rooms there) and I've heard the Holland Hotel is fine. The Gage and Paisano are definitely the nicest hotels in the area, but there are some other good choices around. Whatever you do, I'd avoid anything in Alpine other than the Holland or Maverick. There is a Hampton Inn under construction in Alpine, but I don't know if it will be open when you're there or not. It certainly won't be as unique as any of the other choices though.

Are you set on flying into ELP? You might also check MAF, which is closer than ELP. The drive isn't as pretty, but it is about 90 minutes shorter. If fares are an issue, I've sometimes found MAF to be cheaper too.

He's in F, so it won't be too bad.

It depends on how you define "awesome."

Trust me, it will still be awesome.

Sunday. DL is wide open for upgrades on the morning flights LGA-PBI and both LGA and JFK to FLL.

That wasn't too painful. WebEx finished in less than an hour, and client's problems are solved. Still plenty of time to do the chores around the house I need to do before I leave this afternoon.

Fantastic! I'll check them out tonight! ^ ^

I actually scored tickets to ELP for cheap and on a 733. No CRJ for me! :D

Forgot to post this last night, but when my partner and his sister boarded their ATL-MAD flight yesterday, there were fewer than 50 passengers that boarded the 764. They didn't even start boarding until about 40 minutes before departure because the load was so light. BusinessElite boarded only about 3 or 4 passengers . This definitely would have been the flight to take if you were looking to go to Spain this week on an award ticket, or use miles for an upgrade. They both had exit row seats, and as empty as Y was on that plane, every passenger should have been able to get at least one empty seat next to him/or, if so desired.

DL's other European flights were looking similarly empty last night at ATL Concourse E. In fact, the entire place was relatively empty.
