Thanks! Now to see if I've flown that one, which I probably haven't if it was in the Shuttle fleet.

You actually can add a new "airport" to FM using GPS coordinates.

Not sure, but the good news is you CAN record that flight :)

Yep. As much fun as it is to bash that airline, and they often do deserve most of it, today that crew demonstrated some amazing flying skill to get that plane down safely in the middle of some of the most densely populated real estate in the country. And they managed to do it in a way that ensured the survival of everyone on board.

The pax were lucky as sin to have the guy in the front office that they did. I read his bio...ALPA safety chair, accident investigator, and national technical cmte member, ex F-4 jock, and he is credited with bringing the concept of CRM to US.

News says point of entry was 48th Street. 40.769498/-74.004636

There you go. That's the new "airport" you could enter if you were on board that flight.

Despite my jokes earlier, and my constant bashing of US - I agree.

I stuck around with US longer than I probably should have because their crews had the highest level of professionalism. They might not of always had the right tools to get the job done from a service stand-point, but I always felt safe.

I'm truly amazed that this wasn't a disaster. I have the highest level of respect for the crew on that plane.

I didn't verify it firsthand.

Maybe this can be the hotel for the next Box DO!

Just saw that in the thread on the US forum.

I suppose its possible it used to run as a Shuttle. Then again, if we rely on everything we've heard from the media today, this was an RJ a380 from BOS - CLT that suddenly plunged into the East River.

I mean, come on. If it was the East river, no one would be complaining about back pain. ;)

Wow, planespotters.net already changed its status to "Written Off"!

Why do people I knew as a kid or teenager who never showed the least bit interested in being a friend of mine suddenly now want to add me to their Facebook friends list? I've had about five such requests this week, including one this evening from a guy who was a total bully to me in elementary school, and I doubt I've spoken to him at all since 1984. And now he wants to be my "friend" on that site?

Same reason some of us are adding LBB or SHV to our Flightmemories. :D

I hope the reporters you deal with are smarter than the ones we saw today. Between the dorks at Bloomberg's press conference and the loonies on TV, I think my media hatred might have doubled based on today alone.

On one hand, I get that you have to hear it officially for publication from someone that the boxes can get recovered, but let's (shudder) think for a minute. The aircraft is sitting in the river in ONE F-ING PIECE.
