It looks like 1L is still above the water line and they are evacuating folks on to the ferries. Pretty impressive.

They're saying everyone got off, OK. Damn amazing.

Amen to that. I mean, I could see someone confusing an MD-80 with a regional jet due to engine placement, but an A320? Seriously.

CRJ-1000 just had its first test flight a few weeks ago.

You think maybe they left the cargo hold pressurized to allow the aircraft to float more easily? I'm thinking the wings couldn't hold it as long as it was up.

Crazy about this US A320... Hopefully everyone is OK.

I'm also shocked that I'm in the C3 club at EWR and the Internet is working just fine! The place is pretty crowded too... ^ to CO for finally getting the problem fixed.

Got notified about this about 5 min. after it happened from a friend who works at a hospital. They were placed on trauma alert.

Was just told they're off the trauma alert and that the plane is confirmed evacuated.

Good job to the FDNY, Coast Guard, and everyone else involved in the operation (NY Waterway...?).

MSNBC just talked to a guy that was on a first arriving boat and the pax were all very complimentary to the pilot and crew. :-:

MSNBC said it was up by the Intrepid...I'd hate to have been some poor schmuck on the NY Waterway.

Actually that's why they had such a quick response from the ferries. It does seem they are doing their best to keep it from floating off into the ocean. Hopefully the plane doesn't break apart in the attempt.

Another reason to hate geese.....put ^^ to the guys up front for putting it down in one piece.

I can't imagine a lot of people out and about in this cold, but there's a park in Weehawken that overlooks the Hudson, plus people on Circle Line and ferries, so I wonder if there will be cell phone video of it.

As a random aside - tried to access usairways.com to see what their crisis communications looks like and, of course, the site is down.

Duh.

In other news, since it seems everyone is okay - is it too early to make jokes?
USAirways new marketing promo: row row row your plane, gently down the Hudson.

There are a couple of photos popping up on Flickr. I saw one on the news taken from one of the ferry boats.

Here here.

I wonder what verb US will use to describe the situation seeing as how CO has already claimed "exited."

Glad to hear everyone made it off, too bad they had to get in the water in this balmy weather we're having.

Since it's US, is it ever too soon? :)

I think it's about to go under but the camera moved away to show the helix
