I had a very drunken night last night so Im taking it easy tonight. My roommate just left to go out and said "You've been here for 3 weekends in a row. Don't you have some flying to do?" Im not sure if this means he's tired of me stumbling home drunk on the weekends or what but it reminded me that I dont have another flight until 12/19 and I am really getting the itch to go somewhere.

I was under the impression that I wanted to have an active hand in my wedding...I realized very quickly that it's a hell of a lot harder than it appears, which is why I moved into the role of project manager as soon as the opportunity presented itself. She does the work, I sign off on it. Even me signing off on something doesn't mean that it will get executed as such, so I'm more like a figurehead.

I found my niche as a facilitator. A quick check of our wedding website tells me that I have a scant 48 days left until the wedding, I am pleased to say that everything is well in hand. The only thing outstanding is my pants, which are due in next week. That, and paying for the other half of the wedding, while most of the first half is still on my credit card. Hooray for 0% balance transfers!

Anywho, I'm the guy who made stuff happen. She told me what she wanted and we then went forth and conquered. She did most of the leg work which allowed me to be more global in my perspective. But I was able to design the menu myself, and since the town our wedding is in is dry, we get to provide the beer and wine ourselves and have the caterer serve it. In so doing, I am able to ensure that we're able to offer selections that are substantially better than Coors, Bud Light, and Michelob paired with a Beringer Zinfandel.

Right now I'm looking at Karl Strauss Red Trolley, Stone Smoked Porter, some Newcastle, and of course Shiner Bock. We're getting a case of Columbia Crest Riesling which is a sweet refreshing wine, and quite cheap. My fiance likes the sweeter stuff so it should work out nicely.

Is it wrong that I am excited about the beer selection almost as much as getting married? Oh that's right, I'm in The Box. :D

I hear ya. I haven't flown in six weeks, and I'm getting that "look" here at home, so I booked a quick trip to London for this week.

That ought to do it for now :)

I was checking my flight from IAH to DFW and found this (17 upgraded into FC but only 16 seats):

1 more checked into FC than there is compacity for. We will see what happens tomorrow night.

Sounds oddly like my wedding planning! Then again, I am the guy who made darn sure my project in SEA ran long so I could be away during the crazy period before the wedding (and the same week as the wedding). Made life much easier for all involved!

You've not reached the next plane of enlightenment until the laptop begins to talk back to you.

After the third glass of wine I cant even see the screen. :D

When I got home this evening, about 11 pm I was wide awake. I figured I should have myself a glass or three of wine to fall asleep. That didnt work. I am wide awake and have things to do early in the morning tomorrow.

Why is it when you need to be up early, you cant sleep?

In their defense, they are selling bottled water in the club, but still have pitchers of regular water just like CO and others. Still, it is strange.

Nothing like a mid-con redeye to remind me of just how good I had it on my "regular" redeye last weekend.

Off to the gate shortly heading to PHL. And now my status for next year is secured. But no bloody marys before noon in Texas on a Sunday. How do y'all make it through church without an eye opener??

There is no defending USAirways. They sell a club membership for $400 which amounts to nothing more than a dirty room with dirty, torn chairs.

I find that there is a predictability to the randomness of EMS.

A typical Thanksgiving distribution of calls goes something like this:

7am - 9am
: visitng elderly relative non-compliant with their medications and family freaks out.

9am - 11am: auto accidents

11am - 1pm
: kitchen fires

1pm - 3pm: choking / cardiac (Aunt Myrtle's gizzard stuffing does, literally, kill people).

3pm - end of day: family fighting

5pm - 7pm: auto accidents (usually involving intoxication)

7pm - 9pm: visiting elderly relative who went for a nap can't be woken up and/or food poisoning.

Your luck with them has been better than mine. I've sent in numerous blue comment cards about the disgusting condition of a men's room across from the UA and AA gates in Terminal A South, and never got a response. And when I was last in that terminal, the grime around the sinks on the counter that's been there for months was still there. :td:

Good for you. I've had several guy friends get married and end up hating just about everything about the event because they had no say in it. It's not just about the bride; it's about the couple, and decisions should be jointly made.

No more Platinums or people standing by for a mileage upgrade are allowed to check in for CO 51, EWR-IAH, tomorrow. And no more Y ups either. I'm number 4 on the upgrade list and there are still 6 seats available, and it's a 762. So nobody else who will be higher than me should check in.
