Had a terrible experience picking my grandmother up from IAH today.

My mother called a couple of days ago to get it added to the record that she would need a gate pass and my grandma would need a wheelchair off of the plane. They told her that they added the information and to just go to the check-in counter for a gate pass. (I just used my PC access)

We get to the B check-in counters and inform them of our needs. The agent proceeds to tell my mom that the fact that she did not add the info to the record, to which my mom informs her that we did. The agent continues to tell us we should have called but finally produces the gate passes.

My mom and I waited for the delayed flight and finally make our way down to the B84 area. I ask one of the agents where you walk into the 80s concourse if they had a wheelchair, she just raised her finger and said "Just tell the people at the gate"

We walk down into the pit and I find the nearest agent, who then tells me to go talk to the wheelchair people. Frustrated I do so and I get the expected responses, telling me that they get called by the gate to get people.

Next thing I know my grandmother, who's mind is slowly going, is walking to us. She has a hard time walking so I just grabbed a wheelchair and put her in it.

This really irks me. I wasn't dressed up or anything and felt like the agents just passed us off without actually helping.

Rubbed me the wrong way...

Agreed. I hope this fad ends quickly. Unfortunately it seems to be growing, not shrinking. I refuse to watch any of those shows. I'm sick of this country glorifying stupid and ignorant and making it look sexy and desirable.

I went to my first Christmas open house Thursday night. My mom will come to help me decorate right before Thanksgiving since we'll be gone that weekend. I have 4 full size Christmas trees and another 5 Christmas trees plus a few more minis. It's crazy and all of those are themed. Also 2 full size Santas.

Wow. A Christmas open house before Thanksgiving?

That was an absolutely LOUSY experience. You need to write in about that. It may not help alot, but still . . .

Great news! The Shanghai F1 race has moved to April! That is usually when we are there and I think we can tweak our trip to make it work. It's a race we haven't seen but have always wanted to. I am very excited!

Add the huge and steep decline in personal responsibility to the mix and sooner or later American culture will get fully flushed down the toilet...it's partially flushed now and having a problem fitting down the pipe.

Agreed. I'd write CO, Prime Flight (I think that's the provider IAH uses for those services) and the Houston Airport System. They all need to know.

There is no link to provide but from Autoweek's But Wait, There's More:
The Vietnamese government is concerned about the safety of the motercycle riders, and it's doing something about the issue: it plans to ban "small chested" people from riding. According to the ministry of health, a small chest is definied as measuring less than 28 inches. The same proposal also aims to ban from bikes those with enlarged livers and/or sinusitis.

The sinusitus has me ruled out :D

The Houston Airport Sytem does a good job in responding. I've written to them before and they truly do take claims to heart. I've been impressed with their response.
