I'm a little hungover this morning. Last night was my partner's birthday dinner. We went to Tierra, his favorite restaurant in Atlanta. And we ordered some really good Chilean wine. So good, we couldn't say no when the waitress asked us if we'd like a second bottle between our soup (they make the absolute best black bean soup in the universe) and entrée. So we ordered the second bottle, and we drank it. And this morning I woke up at 3:30 AM with a pounding headache and a cat that wanted to play running all over me on the bed. Not a good situation.

But it was still a wonderful evening, even if I'm paying for it this morning. If you're ever in Atlanta, check this place out. Everything they do they do extremely well, but the black bean soup and the tres leches cake are absolutely incredible. And I found a new menu favorite last night too. They make a grilled pork with tropical fruit salsa that was absolutely the best pork I think I've ever tasted.

Just arrived into PHL to end my weekend run. One runway closed due to a USX DH8 with collapsed nose gear at the end of a runway. Lots of emergency vehicle activity and other fun stuff got some crapy pics, including a decent one of a plane taking off over the wreck on a parallel runway.

And I spent too long in the airport taking and posting the pics so I just missed the train downtown to catch my bus home so now I have a 30 minute wait. But I sortof got the photo, so that's good. Pics are on my blog (link in my sig) or in my FT gallery, though I have no idea how to browse to that.

Sounds like a fun, hiccup, night! What neighborhood is it in? I'll have to check it out the next time I'm there. Does the black bean soup have pork in it? Of course you had to have the second bottle ;) Hope he had a Happy Birthday!

Right now I'm looking at Karl Strauss Red Trolley, Stone Smoked Porter, some Newcastle, and of course Shiner Bock. We're getting a case of Columbia Crest Riesling which is a sweet refreshing wine, and quite cheap. My fiance likes the sweeter stuff so it should work out nicely.

Is it wrong that I am excited about the beer selection almost as much as getting married? Oh that's right, I'm in The Box. :D

First of all, I think I planned our wedding in less than 48 days but  ;)

Go with the Newcastle and of course the Shiner. I can't say on the first two because I haven't tasted but they sound very interesting. Columbia Crest Riesling is very nice for the price and should work very nicely. Regarding your excitement regarding the beer selection - what else is there to get excited about - the flowers???

I'm most excited about the honeymoon! We will be flying on lots of widebodies (744, 772, 773, A300 and an A380) and picking up a lot of new FlightMemory lines and dots. ^ :D

Good for you. I've had several guy friends get married and end up hating just about everything about the event because they had no say in it. It's not just about the bride; it's about the couple, and decisions should be jointly made.

Yeah, that must be why MR BL and I are SO successful;) - we made every freaking decision together because I was overeas and we were doing everything via fax and email. The wines were easy. We got married in Santa Barbara so we picked all Santa Barbara wines. I ordered all the flowers online and sent those to the hotel and bought vases that I still have that I use every week (thank you $9.99 Randalls rose specials plus onepass miles) and I had my mom, his mom and his sister help do the arrangements in the vases. I saved so much money doing it that way. But remember I had one wedding already to learn from ;) I saved on flowers and spent it on food and wine - where it mattered to me:D

And it's not a Q400 version I'm guessing.

I don't think so. I posted the N number and link to the NTSB registration info in the thread in the US forum. I'm having trouble figuring out what flight it was.

It was Flight 4551 from Allentown. A Dash 8-300 operated by Piedmont according to the news.

It's on Piedmont in Midtown between Piedmont Park and Monroe.

The black bean soup does have bacon in it, as well as plantains and jalapeno. It's a little spicy, slightly sweet, and very delicious. We've had the pork, shrimp, steak, and salmon entrees there, and all are wonderful.

And yes, he had a happy birthday.

Fortunately now after some food and a carbonated beverage to help settle my stomach I'm feeling fine.

Actually some of the couples I know where the wedding was very much a one-sided affair were a sign of things to come, and the marriage ended up running in a similar fashion. And then it didn't last long. One couple I know where the wedding was all about what the bride wanted and the groom was just dragged along behind as an afterthought resulted in a marriage that didn't make it a year. On the other hand, my friends who approached the wedding as more of a joint effort seem to be much happier and are still married. So there very well could be a correlation there.

For those Boxers getting in the wedding mood, I have a picture from Calagary I will share with yall inthe coming days. It is a Parechute Wedding dress. I mean if you can't tie the knot of top of a bi-plane as mentioned in a previous post, might as well have something avaition orientated at the wedding.

Perhaps yall could borrow an Elite Access line for the reception line. Al those with Elite Access can skip all the relatives in the reception line and go straight to the Bride and Groom and wish them the best :). Perhaps we could have a shower for all the wedding parties at the CO DO? Or at least have a drink (or three) in celebration for them.

In other news, I had a friend actually suggest that we fly to South Africa to go to a spa. I didnt even have to push her to want to fly that far for a spa day. I am training her well. :)

Glad you're feeling better and that he had a happy B day. We may be coming back to Atlanta sooner than I thought. Mr BL's grandmother needs some help so I will probably be making a trip there in the next few days. I'll let you know and hopefully we can get together because the trip sure won't be fun!
