CLE

The weather is deteriorating here in CLE today... strong winds, dropping temps, rain changing to sleet changing to snow and ice. I can't imagine flights are OT if connecting here.

Winter is most certainly upon us.

In the meantime, I was at the fabulous food show today and saw Paula Deen. I could hear her laughing from about 100 feet away :)

There is no real substance to the show, just T&A

I found it entertaining at first; now it's just mundane and fake.

I'm enjoying my Pom cocktail. For those of you wishing to join me:
Fill the bottom of the glass with pomogranite seeds
Add Pommery (you can add any sparkling wine, champagne or prosecco)
Top w/ POM

Let the season begin - cheers!

I've been meaning to start a thread about this. I have an annual tradition of boycotting the first store that sets-up holiday decorations and/or runs a holiday themed ad. This is part of my eternal quest to keep Christmas (and other similar non-associated holidays) limited to the time-period spanning between the day after Thanksgiving through end of December.

Guess who the culprit was this year? C:rolleyes:NTINENTAL.

Boarded my flight at the beginning of Nov. and I hear freaking White Christmas or something similar on the pre-departure music loop. And, of course, since we were delayed at the gate for about 90 minutes, I heard it a solid 3 or 4 times.

Bah Humbug.*

In other news, I opted for the Y today to go swimming. That place gets weirder by the day.

*The only exception to this rule is the showing of the film "A Christmas Story" which is best viewed in July. For some reason it makes it funnier.

(Go Redskins)

I have no Christmas decorations up; but have my "fall" decorations still up. However, my birthday (which isn't for almost two weeks) officially started with a card by my friends at CO BF Conciege desk today. So enough reason to start the season ;) Oops, I take that back; my parents sent me flowers a week ago since we'll be gone for my birthday.

I usually set up a very small christmas tree
I dont even know where it is
but I usually decorate it with non traditional items such as
Airline Elite Luggage tags , a small Red Clifford the Dog,
My Lucky University Of Florida Beeds purchased in MSY.
And any other random thing I could hang on it.
This year I may put a mini hanging cup of dunkin that I saw for sale today

I need to find my festivus pole.

In other news, EWR is about to get slammed with a line of thunderstorms. Under a tornado watch.

Between the CLE mess and the impending EWR mess it's fixin to be a rough night for CO ops.

I went to my first Christmas open house Thursday night. My mom will come to help me decorate right before Thanksgiving since we'll be gone that weekend. I have 4 full size Christmas trees and another 5 Christmas trees plus a few more minis. It's crazy and all of those are themed. Also 2 full size Santas.

YIKES! Glad I'm not flying. I have been looking at flights and have found that doing IAH-LAX-EWR-LAX-IAH will get BL JR her required mileage to earn gold for the year. She'll be disappointed that she's not going to London (where she wanted to go) but it's a whole lot cheaper.

You sound like my fiance. I could really care less about all that stuff as from now on I will probably traveling to Texas for the holidays.:)

I prefer half-sized Santas personally.

Quick (sadistically) funny story: the mall Santa had a heart attack two years ago while working. Full on code.

... yadda yadda yadda...

Santa was intubated, shocked, and had CPR performed on him to the shock of hundreds of very scared children.

I know a couple of people who have, literally, killed Christmas.

The mall ran adverts for the rest of the season inviting the area children to see that Santa was back, healthy, and ready to hear their Christmas wish.

I guess it's an occupational hazard of employing overweight elderly gentleman.

I used to work at an Ad agency and we'd do all of the holiday B2C "seasonal" ads in the summer. So, for a period in my life I'd have 3 months of Christmas followed by 2 months of autumn followed by 2 more months of Christmas. It was my own personal hell.

I do find this story funny, it is the only way EMS people cope with what they do.

Why is it when I worked street (in an ambulance) EMS, I would always have 2-3 cardiac arrests on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. All throughout the rest of the year I would have a cardiac arrest maybe once a month, if that. Why is Christmas the day of Cardiac arrests?

Yeah, well, that's the thing - we aren't even here for Christmas! So then I go and buy a tree and put it up in the hotel!

Empty-headed boobage is the wave of the future. Kardashians, Next Door, et. al. Entertainment has shoot at the lowest common denominator or it doesn't get greenlit nowadays. TV sucks. I have DVD sets that I should catch up on, but I spend most of the time I could be doing that on the Net.
