DL 757 in Y, revisited

After suffering through DL's 757 Y seat on Monday in a non-exit row, I was determined not to have a repeat experience today. This morning I happened to check the flights to ATL one last time, since getting to ATL an hour earlier would be very helpful. And much to my surprise, not only had a seat opened up on the flight before mine, but it was an exit row window seat! I quickly called DL, and after 5 minutes on hold, actually got an American call center, and inquired about switching flights. It was a $75 charge, which I gladly accepted, and requested I get the open exit row window seat (there was one other open seat on the seat map, and it was a middle), and the agent didn't argue. So, no 30" pitch for me today!

Yep I see it all the time. Plenty of aisle and window seats can be open, and you'll get someone just dying to sit in the front of the plane who willingly takes a middle seat. It happened twice to me last week on WN, when I was sitting in a row near the front of the plane, and there were plenty of window and aisle seats open, and someone wanted to sit in my middle seat. In both cases the flight wasn't full and we went out with open aisle and window seats.

Such people are insane.

OMG, I moved myself up 42 rows for HKG from 44L to 2L. Flying BF for the very first time Sunday! :D

Just spoke to the agent at the desk at the PC and she said there are ~40 open seats... And someone wanted to sit in the middle

I do it all the time on the DL shuttle from LGA-DCA, but that is about getting off the plane and on to the Metro quickly. Plus, if I know the planes are going to be pretty full anyways I may as well get the middle seat near the front instead of at the back. Taking 8B on the 753 means having the unlimited legroom, and I'd rather that than an aisle in the back with someone reclining into me so that I can't use my laptop. I've taken that seat on more than one occasion as well, both on CO and DL.

Depends. I sat in the middle seat earlier this week but that was a 777 exit row that I had all to myself. I didn't get bumped by carts and I didn't have a slide in my way. The person as the other door was doing the same.

All you degenerates know about the $250 MIA-ANC fare, right? Just making sure, in case you never step out of the CO Forum :D

Crap...just missed it (it seems to be gone). And I'm going to need some help next year. I quit my job on Tuesday so now I'm on 100% personal travel until I find a new one

This post is establishing the vigil for my OMNI access. 180 days should be around the middle of February.

*lights a candle*

peace out.

No, I found standard (ahem, saver) BF award for tomorrow, so I redeposited my sleazy pass coach originally booked for today.

It's tough to answer all the questions "Why"?, and "Don't you know there's a new storm coming through the NE on Sunday"? :o

No, but I'm accompanying my parents to China afterwards, joining some other volunteers to visit some schools and kids in rural China. I think I'll be the official photographer for the 10-day trip.

I'll post pictures after I return after New Year.

OMG, my 20FC 738 tomorrow morning on CO89 has just been downgraded to a 735! :o:eek: But my luck hasn't run out, yet, as I still have a FC seat (moved from 1A to 1B, however). I surely hope an Air Marshall's not going to be on my flight and bump me out...

I hope the weather isn't too disastrous tomorrow. Hearing about the upcoming storm reminded me of when on I got stuck at EWR on my way to FRA last year during the ice storm that forced them to close the airport.
