I, for reasons that are past my current level of comprehension, am once again watching "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?", and one wedding in this episode is a traditional 3-day Indian affair for 900 people. Yeah, 900. 900. 9 f-ing hundred people. The other involves the preparation of a meat cake. A who? Yes, a meat cake. Has anyone ever encountered one of these in person?
Needless to say, my mom wasn't thrilled when I told her my concept of a wedding involves a beach and a small number of people. Followed by me saying "You'll be lucky if you and dad get to come". I got a few :rolleyes::rolleyes: for that. |

Oh, and I once paid $50 to bring 4 dozen Krispy Kremes into a hotel ballroom.

Thanks. ^ Hopefully it gets from the closest Palm to the venue we have in mind (~62 miles) in edible shape.
My first wedding cake (which I think was 8 tiers) managed a 110 mile trek - you'll be fine :) |
Lord I feel like a turd - I can't remember a damn thing about my wedding cake.

Hey, I'm here to help. :D In a meat cake, the "frosting" is mashed potatoes. Please see demo example HERE.
I had never heard of a groom's cake; never been to a wedding where I had seen one. Having said that, I'm all about the groom's cake. When my fiancee and I were discussing details of a wedding that neither of us were really keen to budge on, I negotiated myself the presence of an entire Palm chocolate cake. The venue doesn't know this yet, but since it was my idea, I will happily pay a cutting fee or some such thing. |

MR BL and I have only been married for 6 years - I don't think he has a clue what our cake looked like (or the flavor, filling, etc.) Don't feel bad ;)
But I do remember stopping at one of our favorite brew pubs on the way down to the Ritz. :) 6.5 for us as well. |

For the IAH and NYC people. The fares to and from are sickly cheap right now for most dates until the end of January ($188+). My 12/31-1/1 flight to IAH for New Years just dropped another $30 so looks like thats what I'm doing. Thanks baglady
