The Box (this one) is like an Internet condo for me.

Well, I have no desire to go....so I've decided not to partake in the thread. Chances are, I will probably win if I post :D

This is exactly what I've been thinking.

I do not have a good time for that trip and AMS has not been one of my preferred destinations since the time that I was trapped there for the week after 9-11. I too believe (with no real reason to think so) that if I were to make one post in that thread, it would be the winner.

Post 12,000 for me.

Wow.

I think I'm actually going to take a couple hours off now.

I, for reasons that are past my current level of comprehension, am once again watching "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?", and one wedding in this episode is a traditional 3-day Indian affair for 900 people. Yeah, 900. 900. 9 f-ing hundred people. The other involves the preparation of a meat cake. A who? Yes, a meat cake. Has anyone ever encountered one of these in person?

I want to thank you for helping me with my weight loss program. EWWWWW.

The answer is personally, no. I'll have to ask MR BL as he has been to some big Indian weddings so perhaps (though pretty sure he didn't taste). Was there frosting?

Are you having a groom's cake?

Hey, I'm here to help. :D In a meat cake, the "frosting" is mashed potatoes. Please see demo example HERE.

I had never heard of a groom's cake; never been to a wedding where I had seen one. Having said that, I'm all about the groom's cake. When my fiancee and I were discussing details of a wedding that neither of us were really keen to budge on, I negotiated myself the presence of an entire Palm chocolate cake. The venue doesn't know this yet, but since it was my idea, I will happily pay a cutting fee or some such thing.

This reminds me of an entertaining negotiation I had with the catering company at my wedding. We had a dance floor outside and wanted the bar out there during the cocktail hour to be a full bar, not just beer & wine. Seems simple enough, but the caterer just couldn't wrap her head around the fact. I finally hammered it through that I was going to have it no matter what and she needed to name a price for what it was going to cost me. Her answer: $500. I wish she would've just said that at the beginning and saved us both hours of phone calls. Oh, and I once paid $50 to bring 4 dozen Krispy Kremes into a hotel ballroom. My guess is that the cake service will cost something in between.

MR BL had never heard of a meat cake and when I offered to make one he said "a kind and generous offer however one I must decline" :D.

My appetite is completely ruined looking at the photos however I can still nurse my glass of wine.

CM, good pick on the Palm cake. sdm1130, have you chosen your groom's cake?
