FCTSTY is the shortcut for the handle of fly co to see the yanks (I needed to look it up since for years nobody has used anything but FCTSTY).

If you are going to hang around here much (and we hope that you do), you might as well get accustomed to CYJPMWMLP. :)

CanYouJustPutMe WithMyLuggagePlease Jan 4, 2008 8:42 am

geez, I feel like a doof... I knew I had seen FCTSTY...

I'm totally fine with CYJPMWMLP, but I'd rather not have to actually change my name to the acronym...

the issue is with myflyertalk... apparently for at least one user, when I post to a thread she has subscribed to, the length of my name forces the thread column to become small and forces her to scroll to read the entire thread name... when I test it, I see the thread name wrap to the next line... very odd...

Mary2e Jan 4, 2008 9:03 am

That would be me complaining. :) :)

I believe the issue is with the lack of spaces in the username, hence it can't scroll. FCTSTY has spaces, and hence, the user id doesn't take up half the page.

I just had a giggle at your probable reaction to my long yahoo account. :D

Mary2e Jan 4, 2008 9:31 am

Yeah, but I can't send you a screen shot of a normal screen if you keep posting to this thread :D

Same with ALCO - spaces make the difference.

No CYJPMWMLP, I do not want to see your long yahoo account.:cool:

In Firefox the name lengthens the name box, which shortens the text box. But the box retains the same length as all the other boxes. This issue may pertain only to specific browsers.

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Jan 6, 2008 1:48 pm

I'm sure someone on this forum can relate... The Significant Otter is suffering from food poisoning after our SYD-SFO flight. She's semi-passed-out in a chair at the SFO PC, with a grimace on her face and some pepto-packets scattered around her

Odd thing is, I opted for the steak, and she got the chicken, and the steak even tasted a bit funny, but she's the one that got ill. Our upcoming SFO-IAH (and her subsequent IAH-MSY) should be interesting...

Surprisingly, the J service on our SYD-SFO flight was quite good, on par (except for the food) with most of the BF flights I have taken. I even thought the onboard wine selection (especially Champagne and whites) was superior to BF. I also got my first ride on the upper-deck of a 744, which was fantastic :D. Can't wait for my next upper-deck experience on TG in May.

I'd have suggested the lasagna. :o

Seriously though - glad to hear you made it back okay and I hope the better otter perks up.

Options in J tonight were Chicken, Steak, Salmon. I'm not sure that fish would have been a safer choice. BiTed (the "Bi" is for Bipolar) strikes again :D

Also, thanks for the well-wishes. I'm just bummed I didn't book more of these. Think UA would let me trade a few DL mistake fares from EZE and an SU from OSL for another? ;)

CanYouJustPutMe WithMyLuggagePlease Jan 7, 2008 7:41 am

after seeing how ALCO wraps on the same page as my name not wrapping and after looking at Mary's screen shots... I do see, to a certain degree, what the fuss is about... although she conceded that she was not required to scroll right to see all of a post's title (and although she really might want to raise the resolution of her screen... and hide the tool bar when not in use :p), I have requested a name change to

CanYouJustPutMe WithMyLuggagePlease

When I look at my new name, I'll remember giving Mary a little "personal space"... :D

Mary2e Jan 7, 2008 11:22 am

I like my toolbar :) I also have 2 computers on my desk & would go blind if I increased the resolution ;)

The spacebar is your friend. :)

Thank you very very much for requesting the change.

Join the chorus. Y-UPs, Leisure Routes, and NW are your friends ;)

I've tried to make a transition to booking Q-UPs on DL/UA, which generally offer the best routing possibilities and cpm value. I know most will stick to 3cpm as if it is some sort of magic number, but I'm willing to go as high as 5 (and can usually find them around 4 or less) if it's confirmed F, with all its appurtenant mileage bonuses. The way I look at it, I'm still buying F for a cheaper cpm figure than what most non FTers pay for coach.

My next UA Q-UP will be as a 55k+ BD Gold, which means all my flown EQMs convert to RDMs for the rest of my Gold year (until September, for me). That halves my cpm figure on all UA Q-UPs purchased between now and September. Earning 625% RDMs on a flight should be pretty fun :D.
