I think I will make my 6,500th post in the Box.

I was viewing it as akin to a motion at a board meeting, rather than the judicial flavor. Technically, I guess it should have been "motion passed" under such circumstances, but oh well.

But then it would need a second, assuming you want to follow the rules. :p

Does a motion for increased beer-drinking really need a seconding? In The Box, especially, I assume it's merely a formality. It would be too much trouble to kick some drunken wastrel in the corner and have them mumble their secondment, anyhow.
And since you mention having to actually move yourself to kick someone in the corner that should definitely be considered a trump of any previously established rules. If you had a popcorn bowl or some other item that you could throw without too much potential harm to the bowl or the "recipient" then I would suggest that it be used in place of moving yourself to get the secondment. Ah...screw it. Go drink. |

NW F Fare IAH-SMF $644, all-in (or thereabouts)
I was perusing FareCompare Y-UP Search and came across this fare. Not good enough to have people on MR Deals gripe and moan about how it's not 3cpm or less (), so I figured I would just dump it here. IAH-SMF for $644 in F on a SkyTeam Carrier isn't too bad, for us IAH hub captives.

I guess the motion to "start drinking as soon as possible" would be a pro-forma motion.

Looks like I get to add a new line to the old FlightMemory. Just pulled the trigger on IAH-PBI for June. Couldn't resist a decent SPG50 rate at the Resort at Singer Island (not Priceline Cheap, but cheap enough to celebrate having some free time and stock up on some more *points).

Why do I still bother with Hertz? The points earnings are horrendous, the upgrades are nonexistent, and their customer service is beyond abysmal. Wasn't there some Plat Elite perk this year where you could get Emerald Executive with National? Anyone have the scoop on that? It's time I made the switch.

For the National Emerald Executive you go to nationalcar.com/offer/COELITE08 (hope that link is safe to post). Thanks for the reminder on this! My next Priceline car reservation is with National. :D |
I rent from National (they are one of our two preferred vendors at work — the other being Avis). The Executive Aisle selection of late at many airports isn't quite what it used to be. I don't get XM or leather as much as I was in 2005-mid 2007. But it's not bad. But what I like most of all are the tons of free days I earn. As an Executive Elite member I get a free rental day after every 5 rental credits, so basically a free day after every 5th paid rental. And in the Fall, the One Two Free promotion usually yields another 5-7 coupons for free days. In all I usually get 10-15 free rental days a year, from both the promotion and the regular earnings. So I basically never have to pay for personal rentals. And I still like the whole "choose your own car" concept at major airports.
So, yes, you should switch, especially if you rent enough to make the free days worthwhile. I know my situation is different from yours; I really profit from the free days since I have to travel every week on the employer's dime. But even with personal rentals it could add up. |
