Curse. I was going to go with Boston Maine dba Pan Am, but I see they went South at the end of Feb. Curse.

I think US will trip up before UA does. Unless UA has any more unexpected widebody FUBARS.

XJet branded on July 5 for me.

Nice...a holiday weekend, no less. Planning on a little MaxJet "love" for their customers? :D

I have a dumb question, but what happens when you miss a flight? Assume that there is another flight later in the day to the same destination and no elite status and was not because a connection arrived late.

If you just no-show for an early flight you're probably hosed. You may be able to beg your way onto the later flight, but that would take a very nice CSR to make it happen. If you call in advance and are "stuck in traffic" or whatever there's a pretty good chance that they'll let you go standby on the later flight(s).

Every time I have shown up late for a flight on CO (not in several years, however), I was put on the next available flight without any hassle or additional charges.

I believe that the bolded section above is significant. I would not expect CO to be particularly lenient. They might be, but they might not...

Plus, planes are a lot fuller today than several years ago. All subsequent flights on the day may all be booked full.

Back in November (as you may recall ;) ), I turned up drunk at the CO Counter around 6am, after my 5:45am DCA-IAH flight had already departed (with intended onward connection to SJU). I was unkempt, likely reeked of booze, and a bit wobbly. My fare was a super-discounted $175 all-in L fare. The lovely GA accomodated me on flights DCA-EWR-SJU, and I even managed to clear an EUA on DCA-EWR (but, alas, not on EWR-SJU). Some hair of the dog in the DCA PC allowed me to make it through DCA-EWR without expiring, and I recall little of the subsequent EWR-SJU experience.

SJU was nice, though. :D

OOOOO I have been down that path a few times me self. The CO GAs are so helpful although one reeks of booze.

My 2001st post, and nothing from the bar-janitor known as J.Edward! Is he still passed out in the bathroom with his head in the floor? Do you know what Otter did to that floor?

Thank you for making it meaningful by placing it here.

FYI, I haven't sullied the floor in days. He should be fine. Nothing a tetanus shot and some Cipro can't fix. :D

I don't want to know! I've got a project due tomorrow, a test on Wednesday, a project due next week, 3 lit reviews, and a major term paper due this month...and they're taking their toll.

<shrug> my FT participation always drops around this time of the semester. :(

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel: I am looking forward to la revolution! :D

If you know you're going to miss it I'd call them and ask whether you can fly stand-by later. Depending on load factors you should be ok. (Note I said depending on load factors!) I had a recent 7am flight that I had booked a while back but it turned out that I could have left at 2pm and been fine so I woke up around 5am just long enough to call the Elite desk and ask about standing by for the 2pm. The agent said shouldn't be a problem and said she'd put a note in my PNR that I had called in advance vs. just not showing up. Got to the airport at 1pm, spent a couple of minutes with the counter agent and had a seat on the 2pm flight.

Definitely depending on load factor. Never missed a flight myself but have seen some poor guy (missed his flight) praying for a seat while GA asking for VDB volunteers. Not a good thing miss your flight whe your boss is waiting for you at the other end. GAs were great but the load factor during spring break is high.
