Thank you NewbieRunner.

Apparently I need eightblack to be more specific about which hotel. I have reserved the IC Tokyo Bay which gives and address as 1-16-2 KAIGAN MINATO-KU.

If this is not the hotel that he mentioned, I will make a change presto.

Though I usually praise Japan's public transportation infrastructure, the ANA Intercontinental is the one in Roppongi (which was mentionned earlier). The Tokyo Bay one, though certainly more convenient to visit the Fish Market in the wee hours of the morning, is very close to the Conrad, and quite a ride away from the ANA IC in Roppongi. Both have a minato-ku address, but it's definitely not a distance you'd want to do on foot

Another poster mentionned hesitating between the Conrad and the Hilton in Shinjuku: they are equally far (or close) from Roppongi (4 metro stations?). Both are nice, the Conrad is better (especially if you like bathrooms, a little less if you like unlimited booze at the lounge).

Yes, the ANA Intercontinental is in Roppongi but the address is Akasaka. Akasaka sounds more exclusive than Roppongi.

The Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills is a lovely property. Yes, the Park Hyatt is stunning, but the Grand Hyatt is also superb. It has a very nice lounge which is a great place to meet other FTers attending the same event.

The GH in Roppongi Hills is indeed a great property. Also has easy access to
the Hibiya subway line - heck, you don't even have to walk outside.

I plan to stay here for the Tokyo Do.

I just signed up for this event since I am already in Tokyo during that time.

Anyways I am already booked for the PHT, would be a shame if I needed to change it to the GHT.

High-five! when are you arriving? I might also consider GH, just for the sake of club lounges

I'm holding bookings at the Grand Hyatt as well as the IC-ANA and will decide later.

I am arriving on the 29th leaving on the 31st. I booked the trip prior to this DO being announced cause I wanted to see the cherry blossom again next year, but the DO sounds too good to pass up! So I may plan another trip to Tokyo in April to see the cherry blossom.

The lounge at the GHT is very nice, but the PHT is so much better in so many other ways, especially the rooms.

Additionally, as a diamond, I find I am treated better at the PHT, and HRT, than the GHT.

The ANA IC is in Akasaka -- the center of Roppongi is a good 20 minute walk away.

My recommendations for anyone looking for a centrally-located hotel from one of the major chains:

- ANA IC Tokyo (Akasaka near Tameike-Sanno / Roppongi-Itchome stations)
- ANA IC Strings (Shinagawa)
- Grand Hyatt Tokyo or Ritz-Carlton Tokyo (Roppongi)
- Sheraton Miyako Hotel Tokyo (between Shirokanedai and Shirokane-Takanawa stations)
- Shangri-La Tokyo (Tokyo Station)
- The Peninsula Tokyo (Yurakucho / Hibiya stations)
- Mandarin Oriental Tokyo (Mitsukoshimae)
- Four Seasons Tokyo (Tokyo Station)

Some other well-regarded hotels include:
- The Capital Hotel Tokyu (Akasaka near Tameike-Sanno Station)
- Palace Hotel (Otemachi)
- Tokyo Station Hotel (Tokyo Station; to open this coming October)

If anyone has any requests for more budget-oriented hotels, please let me know!

For people looking to spend less than 8000yen a night...
Rooms are very basic and usually includes a simple breakfast (toast, some rice balls, and salad) and free internet in the room. Room sizes vary, but they are usually 12m2 or smaller.

How far away is the Conrad Tokyo from the ANA? Easy to get to via train?

I'll avoid signing up (to save space for people who can attend the whole thing). I only can join on Sunday...
