+1

Been a bit tied up for the past week at work, etc... Just filled in the waitlist. I am definitely interested, currently looking at a creative way to get there.

eightblack, hope you are having a great time in DXB, any idea how the WL looks?

Flying IAD-FRA-BKK(stopover)-NRT-IAD-BOS. Had to book as two one ways

Not sure what happened... I've been subscribed to this thread, but didn't get an update email until today. Oh well, added myself to the waitlist nonetheless.

EDIT:: Cleared the waitlist just a few minutes later.

With confirmations coming in, and people beginning to look into flights...

As for the 31st, realizing everything's still tentative, is the thinking on the day's events to shoot for all-day thing(s), or a breakfast/brunch thing whereby people can book return flights that afternoon/evening?

Would that be the day that a bunch of FTers are arriving on the 787 and there is a thought of organizing something for that evening?

Sounds about right. 4/1 is the first day I can see return flights available. I may need to try to extend my stay an extra day for the welcome party.

If anyone is interested there is Coach saver award available

Flights booked, AA all the way, across the atlantic, the us, and the pacific, thru LAX outbound, thru DFW (and on AA's new 777) on the return.

Arriving Thursday afternoon, leaving Monday evening.
Giving myself a few days in L.A. on the outbound, just for the sunshine.

you might want to re-check the start date on that flight. It's not going to work as announced for this DO.
It's a crying shame that this DO has such poorly planned dates --I'm ticketed (along with ~20 other FTers) on 31 Mar DEN-NRT inaugural and will be in Japan for several days. Very annoying as I'd love to attend.

If this DO was in January 13 or August 13, it'd be one thing, but to be so close but yet so far...

Poorly planned for you maybe, but 100+ people might disagree with you
Don't worry, we'll be at the airport to greet you....

Of course I was being totally tongue in cheek. My mother keeps telling me that the world doesn't revolve around me after all.

I'd be very excited to do some sort of optional extension/787 launch party type thing.

I think there will be several of us Japan-Doers around on Monday and maybe
Tuesday, so I think you will have an opportunity to join some sort of
787 post-Do.

Registration Update

Folks,

As of today, we have over 100 people registered for the Japan Do. This is somewhat unexpected.

I need to talk with the event team as to our options re activities and logistics so bear with me. The registration page will be offline as of this weekend while we have a wee lie down and work out how we are going to manage the numbers.

Bear with us. Won't be long...

Cheers

A "post do", sort of/somewhat/pseudo separate add-on from "the" Japan Do might be a polite idea.

Might I suggest this be organized by any one or few of those on that flight who are familiar with NRT, and/or Tokyo, and would "relieve" the Japan Do team of adding yet another event to their already full event schedule, massive number of attendees, etc.
