The Japan DO Dates - 2013
Folks
The JAL Ambassador, ANA Ambassador and one of FT's longest Japan residents (mjm) and I all spoke via conf call a week ago and between the 3 of those guys, there is a huge amount of Japanese knowledge, which will be a great help in organizing the Do. 2 of the 3 guys are permanently based in Japan.
So the dates are confirmed. They are 29/30/31 March, 2013
We'll be running registration via EventBrite (no cost to enter the event) and the EventBrite page will be up shortly. This just allows organisers to track participants, makes it much easier to manage logistics and email the entire group.
We chose the dates because this is Easter for many of you - which means Fri is a holiday and many people take the Monday as well. Sorry to our US brothers, and to those who do not celebrate Easter.
The team spoke of a couple of great events - from engaging with ANA and JAL, a tour to the famous fish market, bullet ride trains and of course, eating some of the best food (and drinking some of the best beer) available.
We'll be basing ourselves and the activities out of Tokyo. As many of you know, Tokyo can be a challenge for first time visitors - but if a middle aged Aussie can navigate his way around the subway system, anyone can do it
I'm probably going to stay at the IC ANA at Minato-Ku...but may see what rates/redemption availbility is like at one of the Hyatts.
More to come...

We actually are now ticketed for this thing so eightblack can put us on the EventBrite list. ^
It appeared to me, who knows nothing about Japan, that Haneda was somewhat closer in than Narita (and also very close to Minato-Ku) and since that is where the seats were, I jumped on them. Arriving Wednesday morning and leaving Monday just after midnight Sunday.

私も行きたい!最近、CBはもちょっと読みましょう!日本に何時でもいいです!
And back to English: I always want/need/go to Japan, so count me in. It seems like a weekend schedule, so I can probably make it. (Not confirmed, but interested).

Edit: also, it asks for First Name, Last Name, and email. Nowhere to put the FT handle which would be useful for attendees to know who's going (I suppose most of us don't know each other by name...)

Clicking on Complete Registration doesn't seem to do anything... Is it up already?
