Thanks to our hosts for their collective efforts.

I registered today and will try to be there for biz during this time, but if not, will fly there on my own.

I'll be staying at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo (just down the street from the ANA IC) and attached to Roppongi Hills. May be down for Thursday night drinks as well depending upon when I end up flying in and my work / social schedule.

And by whole bunch, I mean 20-30 that I know of.
I'm one of those and since there is no way in hell I'm giving up my 787 seat, that means I can't really be there on the weekend.

Any chance we can extend the DO a day? Would be fun if we could tie the two events together somehow, especially with that many people around at once...

I think that's a great idea...we'll have a welcome party for you! Let me talk to the others and we'll see what we can come up with.

PS I'm not sure if Japan is ready for you...

Since visiting Japan puts me right into the follow-the-leader mode, I too have booked the IC Minato-Ku.

This is an object lesson in the value of Priority Club points but is still a lot cheaper than those very pricey Hyatts over there for which I do not yet have enough points for five nights.

Do not worry, there will be enough RA's at the IC so lounge access will be easy for you. We'll ensure we get plenty of bang for your buck. The lounge at the IC is very very good. Any lounge with it's own beer tap is excellent in my opinion

^ ^ ^When Franny noticed that you are coming she was delighted. She said that she is hoping that you can arrange more than the half day appearances that you have made at some recent DOs.

Can i have a bit of advice re accommodation? I note eightblack (and now monitor as well) is staying at IC Minato-Ku. I have a few Hilton pts, and do note that hotel rooms in Tokyo are a little expensive As a hilton diamond, I thought I would either stay at Hilton Shinjuku (34000 pts per nite) or Conrad Tokyo (42500 pts per nite), the latter I think is quite close to the IC Minato-Ku.

I stayed at Hilton Shinjuku 3 years ago (first and only visit to Tokyo) and enjoyed my stay there but thought the Conrad would be closer to the w/e's action . eightblack or others, which of the 2 Hiltons would be the better venue for this DO's activities? or any other hotel suggestions? (I have hardly any PC pts to stay at IC). I registered my +1 today for this DO as well, and will now need to convince her to come...

Duly registered and very much looking forward to this DO. My first trip to Japan, although have connected through NRT many times.

Will hold off on booking award tickets (currently plenty of *Alliance availability) until plans are firmed up for the Inaugural United 787 Welcome Party. Would love to attend that event also which may mean staying an extra day.

Haven't yet researched hotels but will no doubt stay close to where the majority hangs out.

Just 10-seats left...

Folks,

This is going to be a big event. 40-seats gone in just on 24-hours and no-one really knows about it. And the DO is 9-months away. We could produce a small human in that time

The event team have come up with some cracker events - and we'll be posting those shortly.

More to come...

SIMON

For those of you in the follow-the-leader mode - Minato-ku is an administrative district in Tokyo and there are at least three IC properties in Minato-ku. If you plan to be near the centre of the action make sure to book the ANA Intercontinental in Akasaka. The other two IC properties in Minato-ku are IC Tokyo Bay and The Strings.
