Today’s 4:55pm OLB departure (left almost 1 hour late). Was expecting something warm and more substantial given the 2 hours flight. No menus (surprise surprise).

For example, I flew LHR to BCN the other week. Planned departure 16.35, actual departure more like 20.30. Guess what, we were eating afternoon tea with scones at 21.30 at night.

LHR-NCE yesterday morning. The traditional was over cooked this time and pretty revolting, also there were 4/5 crew on the large CE cabin but service was totally chaotic. Often far slicker with 1 or 2 crew

I’ve seen bigger amuses-bouche than that salmon plate.

They serve food based on the original time of departure, not your delay. ie. the crew don't swap out and find meals more appropriate for your new departure.

It has already started! Hot meals on LHR-BCN last night, chicken and leek pie below.
Comically small starter of two tiny cauliflower florets, pie was almost totally devoid of filling. I definitely prefer hot meals but not if that means the budget is slashed even more - this is basically back to the days of the infamous panini.
Flight was also almost three hours late after a false start and landed at 1.15AM BCN. Fortunately, both the cabin crew and flight crew were utterly superb, clearly BA old timers and very much out to ensure everyone had a good flight anyway. If it had been any other crew I’ve had in the last couple of months I have a feeling passengers would not have taken it with such grace.

Breakfast this morning coming in from ARN. Alternative was an omelette. This was from a night stopper - so breakfast would have been loaded on the plane on Saturday evening at LHR.

That's interesting. Compare this with my band 4 night-stopper (post #1045) and the yogurt is definitely an addition.

This mornings fayre on the 2784 LHR-FNC
Butter and Jam, to go with either croissant or jam pasty 🤔
CE extended back to row 12
Someone was served the salmon early (special meal?) and then was off the menu
Fizz ran out about half way into the flight

LYS-LHR today, brunch service. Carrot & lentil salad for me; prawn cocktail for Mr. My carrot salad was delicious, prawn cocktail was tasty, but sauce not as good as mine apparently 😂
Crew attentive on what was only a short flight

Interesting options for brunch! I thought they were back to serving pre-COVID brunch options (eg. quiche / tart).

On the EDI-LHR this afternoon, it was 'spicy carrot salad' and 'prawn cocktail'. I went for the prawns and it was tasty - they had lettuce, tomato and a bit of avocado on the bottom - lots of pepper. Very 1980s.....
