Time to go back to RAR...

Quoted 9,170 for NRT-RAR. Which is great considering direct is 5,500 or so ... until you realise there's only three originating airports - LAX (can't connect in another IATA zone), SYD (flight is like twice a week) and AKL (daily flight that NZ used to release unlimited space on, but that seems to have disappeared). Doh! Good luck getting from TYO to AKL, too...

- Does this one look attainable MPM wise?
- 2. and 3. I’d prefer SQ. How about J Class availability? Is it true SQ offers few J reward seats?
- What are the better airlines for segment 4 seat/comfort wise? ANA, SWISS, or someone else?

Thanks for the advice!
Please post this into the mini RTW thread ... you might get more traction there. This thread should be only for discussing the new MPM rules and the audience may not know as much about your question...

[edit] you did (cross) post. I recommend not doing that... makes people feel a lot less helpful.

YYZ-GVA-ATH-IST-PEK-BKK

where the stops are ATH and PEK, I was quoted 11945. Seems like there is a slight variation on the MPM depends on the stopovers.

I also asked what the MPM is for going to HKT instead of BKK, but the agent said it's the same since they are in the same country had a feeling she's BSing me even though I pushed for her to double check.

Ask her if the MPM for YYZ-HKT is the same as YVR-HKT

I notice from the wiki that YYC-BKK is 9776. Does that apply both ways, over the Pacific and Atlantic? That doesn't seem to offer much flexibility if travelling via the Atlantic.

It's just ONE magic/unknown number now, for either ocean

Let us know if AP says a different MPM number otherwise

Dear whoever put YEG-KUL/PNH in Asia 1: I hate you. I planned an entire itinerary before realising it's Asia 2

Can someone with distinction status ask for the MPM on YEG-SGN or YYC-SIN?

Where's the tongue-in-cheek smiley? It's only 5K difference, even after Dec 15th.
It weren't moi, btw...but, we could look at the history to rat out the culprit

When I've been asking for MPM, the agents have been reluctant to tell me, and suggested that it varies by the routing chosen (airlines selected). Could this be true? Or were they just blowing smoke at me?

FWIW, I was on hold for 20mins last night, longest ever as a "valued Diamond member". People must be tying up the lines as they forge out a redemption before Devaluation-DoomsDay-Dec15th.

Oh, interesting. I didn't notice that Asia 1/2 and Australia in J aren't changing. This makes my life significantly less stressful

Yep, 150K/155K respectively for Asia1/Asia2.

Ahh, I thought Australia in J was going up too. Good to know it isn't. So for us in Nuk-Nuk Land, it will remain at 160K to Australia in J, post Dec 15th. The cattle-class Y redemption goes up 10K, from 80K to 90K.

Now, put the safety pin back on that stun gun. And, no need to out anyone.

Definitely true. That's why you need to to take quotes with a grain of salt.

AP has drastically reduced their call centre staff and coupled with the Dec 15th deadline, is why you are experiencing longer than normal wait times on the diamond line.

Ding! Ding! We have a winner for figuring out why AP rolled out these changes!

If they do, then they are quoting the old MPM which often specifies whether one can go TPAC or TATL. If the amount comes to M5 or M0 then you know they are looking at the old sheet.
