An amazing Guam based crew.

Chicken Katsu and Japanese curry sauce with the always amazing guava cake and the delicious rice balls that go great with an ice cold beer.

Arrival meal was a choice of teriyaki burger or cold soba noodle salad. I ordered the burger out of curiosity, but saved my appetite for dinner at the beach.

Guam was absolutely empty. Good for those who are at the beach, but not for the many hotels, bars, and restaurants.
I’m hoping to go to GUM later this year, and how I would kill for a Guava cake. So hard to find guava here. But I guess the NRT - GUM flights are being given the same miserable food as other ex-NRT flights.

I don't have a sweet tooth, but that guava cake is wonderful. After a lot of traveling, sometimes I really enjoy some simple well done airplane food. I call them "Glorified Leftovers". A little hot sauce goes a long way!

I wish you were on my flight from HNL-ORD last week. I left the guava cake behind. Didn't touch it. Can't stand it. Want my ice cream back!

Nope, just the standard pasta offering out of Mexico, unfortunately. Hasn't changed in years.

Still has not been released (won't be till around 25 May), but I don't expect any surprises.

Just curious, what don’t you like about the cake?

Count me as another who would gladly take it off your hands if aboard together.

Not sure. I just don't like it. I don't much care of Japanese food either - some people think I'm crazy!

3.5 hour EWR to EYW Embraer and back in Embraer 170’s all we got were the snack box “meals.”

I seriously may just stop paying to sit up front as there is definitely no value anymore.

That's what you're gonna get on United Express

Technically, the internal menu calls for plated meals (included our favorite chicken dish served cold) on flights over 1,500 miles, but I have not seen a single instance of them.

Over 1500 miles not very Express-y!

Agreed 100%, but also on hub-hub flights over 800 miles. That said, I can't think of any that are running right now.

For a regional aircraft, particularly one that is used on a long(er) route, I would value the more spacious seat (particularly the A seats). Even if the catering improves, not sure I would expect or pay for fine dining up front.

Depends on biz travel vs. leisure travel. Biz travel - you go on the flight that's available and you may go hungry if there's a connection and no option to get food elsewhere simply because UA can't get its catering act together.

I haven't seen a plated cold entree meal on Express in a very long time, even before coronavirus, and even on a 3+ hr flight. Of course I certainly saw a very artistically presented and tasty cold plate meal on Swiss for a 40 minute flight, so it's not like it cannot be done.

I wish I could post the catering sheets, but it definitely shows catering for these flights...but I don't think anyone has seen a plated meal on Express since the pandemic.
