EWR-DFW, afternoon departure. Snack flight.

Choice of chicken “sandwich” or tomato/mozzarella “sandwich”.

I know eco friendly is a core tenet of Good Leading The Way, but I really would’ve appreciated a plate of some sort. Doesn’t need to be imported fine China, but something more than a bathroom napkin would be nice. (This truly is how it was presented. Can’t blame the FA - he did all he could with what he was given.)

On the upside, wifi was broken too, so I couldn’t complain about being plateless while inflight.

Sandwich and presentation looks kind of like stuff I have purchased onboard Ryanair in the past

WOW!!! I admit to liking those cookies, or baby pies.

Next week is a breakfast flight between IAH-EWR so I hope to get a good pick.

There are on lunch/dinner flights only, except on west coast - Hawaii flights.

I've always received a plate with the sandwiches. Not sure what happened on that flight

It's not standard, but I've had the plate missing. Most likely catering fail is what happened.

I’m sure it was a catering miss, and not policy, but still was a bit stark to see the same hand towels in the lav that my food was served on.

again - kudos to the FA for making it work and not holding the flight till catering could come back with plates. That would’ve been disastrous - we were trying to beat out the incoming thunderstorms at EWR (and won!)

Did they load the "all-in-one" plastic utensils?

Also, odd to see the clear packaging again...I thought they had moved to a more oven-safe paper packaging...

yes, although they weren’t terribly useful without a plate to cut on.

and yeah, I was surprised about the clear package. The last couple of those sandwiches I’ve had were in the brown bag as you mentioned. Maybe a different vendor supplying them?

No; I posted here out of sheer amusement, but file a formal complaint over something so petty? Nah. Not my style. I’m absolutely positive the FA took care of that part internally; he was super attentive.

CVG->EWR today on Republic in F. No glassware, only plastic cups.
No snack basket, just the COVID bag thing.
Is there supposed to any consistency anymore? Or some minimum service they are supposed to be meeting?

GoJet consistently has the full snack basket including the cheese and cracker thing. And of course actual glassware.

Bummed there was also no power outlet either. E170

Tangentially related to the thread but important nonetheless - happen to be looking for a snack in my travel bag and found this delight:
