For 2017 qualifications, see the 2017 thread and for 2018, see the 2018 thread

To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

Going from the review rejection notification I posted in last year's thread it would certainly appear to be the case.

I have never been GS before but this year spent $53k PQD on United metal for 175k PQM (not sure my BIS). Mainly business class flights between SFO (my base) and EWR, although also a trip to London. It still shows me as 1k (nothing about under review). Am I still eligible to receive an invite in January? Anything I should know as a potential first time member?

I just checked the my status page, as a 4.6MM+ lifetime miles member, and it shows I’m still under review with decisions being made by January 11th. You would think they could save themselves some time by adding a simple filter on LT mikes.

What was your spend on United last year?

Maybe this is fun for another thread, but I find Australia to be the GS magnet. The biz class tickets there are just insane, and all you have to do is go there (for a company that will pay) 4-5 times and you are easily knocking on the GS door. Because I can't multi-quote, I will have to verbally agree with the previous poster about >10 GS. I was on MEL->LAX on Saturday and the person at the LAX jet bridge was working double time fielding all the requests. I think it was 12 names on the list.

Tangent to that - the crazy busy GS agent proactively booked me on an earlier LAX-DEN flight because she thought I could make it, but protected my other. I made it, so did my bag. I didn't have to ask. That was really awesome to get in 2.5 hours earlier.

I 100% agree!! I fly SFO to HND almost every month and the Biz class sucks, no privacy, and if you don't get blukhead, it's even worse. I can't wait until they convert them all to the new Polaris (even though I have serious complaints the Polaris seats too).

One more small EWR/PBI trip coming after Christmas but have following totals for the year so far -

EWR

PQM 259,592

PQS 85.5

PQD $81,803

Hoping that I hear good news soon. Lost GS in 2017 but was GS in 2015/2016

I did SFO-SYD about 6 weeks ago (on a $15,500 PQD ticket), and did not even get my first meal choice. On that particular one, there were 18 GS in J and another 8 waitlisted for upgrades. So yes... the SYD market is laden with GS, and most of whom pay full fare to sit up front.

I miss that kind of GS service... hopefully my measly $52K PQD will get me back into the club in a few weeks.

All done for the year out of MCI. Stats for 2018, suspect i am on the low side of the bubble for a small non-hub market.
PQM: 141,300
PQS: 112
PQD: $44,177
BIS: 102,153
CPM: $0.43

Stats from prior years when I started this ridiculous obsession of tracking my stats for GS.
Year PQD BIS CPM Status
2011 Estimated 30000 Not Tracked Not Tracked 1K > Global
2012 Not Tracked 85,750 Not Tracked Global
2013 Not Tracked 60,950 Not Tracked 1K
2014 $52,774 77,316 $0.68 1K
2015 $40,605 64,845 $0.63 Global
2016 $12,754 63,770 $0.20 Global
2017 $36,237 92,921 $0.39 1K
2018 $44,177 102,153 $0.43 1K

Stats so far for 2018, awaiting a reinvite. DEN based
PQD: $48,047
BIS miles: 105,540 miles
CPM: $0.455
1st year GS invite

Slightly higher spend than 2017
PQD: $45,397
BIS miles: 110,364
CPM: $0.411

I suppose I'm on the bubble, but as a business owner, I do influence a lot of travel choices.

wow you made GS in 2016 with $12k in spend? Was it gifted? Or am I reading the chart wrong and you’re saying you were GS in 2016 but that year you only spent $12k (and dropped to 1K the next year)?

I think he meant he was GS during that year, but he lost it the following year. His status is lagging by 1 year.
