GS Qualifying for 2019 Discussion

This will be a discussion thread, for discussing the needed qualifications and timing of notification.
For posing formal notifications (but no discussion), use this thread Global Services 2019 Notifications (ONLY)
2019 GS Timeline
First requal notifications came out on 6 Dec 2018
First-time notifications started about 3 Jan 2019
Numerous reports that all regular notifications will be out by 11 Jan 2019
Initial successful reconsideration appeals reported 15 Jan 2019
First reports of challanges15 Jan 2019
For discussion of GS benefits, please use Consolidated Global Services Thread: Benefits, Questions 2018
For 2017 qualifications, see the 2017 thread and for 2018, see the 2018 thread

To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

Mystatus says I'm a 1k-- but I e-mailed 1kvoice about extending some RPU's that will expire and the automated bounce back was "thank you for contacting the dedicated global services team"

I just send another email to 1kvoice to see if it triggers the same thing
Try calling the MileagePlus Service Center number ... when I call that versus the GS number, it recognizes me then transfers to a GS agent.

As far as I am aware, no new GS have ever been invited in December; it is only in January that new GS get invited. So the status of new candidates is meaningless right now.

New invitations don't go out until January, usually ... this is the first requal round with existing GS. Don't lose hope ... I was similar to you my first year -- $32k the year prior; $72k the year I qualified. They didn't let me know until January 5th that year.

I love that you're monitoring for your wife! My husband is very happy I requalified (1MMr). Let's hear it for the GS ladies!

For those GS that have qualified -- please post in Global Services 2019 Notifications (ONLY) and please do not double post. That thread is only for posting qualification notices, This will make it easily to collect information on parameters of those that have qualified.

And let's focus discuss on the qualification process in this thread.

I'd love it if youd share a weeks worth of flights. Is so hard to imagine flying that many segments!
congrats, tho!

OK I finally did my all UA spreadsheet for the year....

PQD 43K
PQM 147220
PQS 34
BIS 70342
CPM 0.61

Been GS for a couple of years, and flying 13K PQD next week (included in above totals). So although I didn't get a requal today I am hoping I may get through in January on the second draw. And if not I will just need to get to the airport a bit earlier!!!

Don't see anything, still 1k.

127k PQM, $47k PQD. Mostly (~85%) UA metal (some ANA/Luft), mostly international biz class.

EWR based but do more of my flying out of LGA/JFK on Delta and AA (~$66k EQD+MQD, also heavy intl biz). Might change that if I qualified for GS!

Seem to be in the same boat as a lot of the posters. Re-qualified with just under $50k in spend on UA.

Kind of bummed that my trip next week is on UA metal instead of LH. I am giving up a chance to GPU into F! I booked UA concerned I would need the PQD.

I was noticing a number of requals at around 50k PQD, but here I am at 60k+ (close to 70k by the end of the year) and 8 years of GS and no requal. The algorithm they use is really bizarre...

Just be patient. A couple of years ago, I had over $100K and did not get requalification notice until end of first week of the new year.
