applied for renewal 5/27. still shows pending approval today, 9/23, but called (thanks to the flyertalker who posted the prompts). waited on hold about 10 minutes, spoke with a friendly agent who said that they'd recently updated the information and now renewal times are running 'from four to five months.'

Today, on my 131st day since applying, my renewal was approved without requiring an interview. My time period was May 15th to Sept. 23.

Received my approval today, 132 days after applying.
My husband and I renewed on the same day within minutes of each other. He was approved within a couple weeks. Why him and not me? I'll leave it to the group to see if there is a reason. Here are the details and differences. We both travelled together to about six European countries in the past five years. He renewed about 5 months before GE expiration; I renewed 10 months early. I had changed my surname and I physically went to the LAX CBP office with documentation and they updated my record using my new passport info last year. My guess is it was just (bad) luck of the draw for me. FYI - I've been following this thread for the past couple months. It helped me keep my patience during the wait. Thank you to all who have posted their info! |

Thank you to all who have posted their info! As to the delay you experienced, it is simply random. Randomly, some people get approved quickly, and some people are in a queue which is currently 130-135 days long. It is random - that is all there is to it. |
Just received approval after 132 days. No need for an interview despite not being a US citizen and having applied for a passport for my second nationality since my first application.

Mrs. muji and I have exact same foreign travel histories. Mrs. muji was approved (conditionally, so will need an interview) in four days. I have waited almost 6 weeks; my application is still pending. |

Too many reports of couples in the same boat-one renewed in days, the other takes months-to think there is any logical basis for the longer period.

I too have concluded that there is no pattern that would explain, and no logic behind, the varying waiting periods.

Applied for renewal on 5/16 (before expiration), approved today (134 days) without interview.
There is no mention of whether they are sending a new card. Do I have to request a replacement specifically, or do they just send it. I am traveling on Tuesday, so I assume I will not have it in time anyway, not that it matters much. |
