As of today still, they were still sending emails out notifying a “TTP application status change” for those going from conditional to final approval at least. Same as the week before too. What’s weird is that even after the renewals finalized this month, some (already) renewed GE members got emails about GE interviews offered in new locations:

Dear Global Entry Applicant,

In lieu of scheduling an appointment at a Global Entry Enrollment Center, you have the unique opportunity to interview for Global Entry when you return from your next international trip at one of several international airports in the United States and Canada. Enrollment on Arrival is ONLY available if you are arriving from an international trip and will be completed during the arrival process.

What is Enrollment on Arrival? With Enrollment on Arrival, Global Entry applicants who areconditionally approved can complete their interviews, the last step of the Global Entry process, while they are clearing through United States Customs and Border Protection or Preclearance. This option is now available at:

.....
New GE cards arrived without any request needed from applicant. Same as always for those eligible for GE cards.

got my email today reporting 'status change', 154 days later, FINALLY conditionally approved for renewal.

since I don't live in a city with an interview location, the next hurdle will be finding an available time in a place where I'll be which has CBP interviews...which appears to also be a mess. ugh.

No rhyme or reason.
If you are at day 90, you are in the long queue
. GE benefits will work for 1 year post-expiration date.

. . . If you have applied for renewal before expiration.

Another datapoint (Dutch citizen), received the TTP Application Status Change email today, 2 hours ago:

We are pleased to inform you that your U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Global Entry program membership has been approved. You can begin using the program immediately.

152 Days

Having a scheduled appointment for renewal or initial GE membership “interview” doesn’t prevent the ability of the conditionally-approved (renewal or new) applicant of using the enrollment on arrival path prior to the scheduled appointment date.

For ORD GE enrollment on arrival, renewal and initial GE applicants are handled at the same area — as is common at relevant airports for enrollment on arrival — and the length of the wait in terms of number of applicants and time for applicants to be processed can vary. And at ORD too — especially if having to make a relatively tight connection for flights departing from Terminals 1/2/3 — the lines for enrollment on arrival may be such that a GE renewal applicant able to use GE may want to skip the enrollment on arrival service and do it on a different day. ORD used to have very limited hours for enrollment on arrival but they seem to be doing enrollment on arrival over longer hours than used to be applicable.

Well i’ll find out in about 4.5 hours.

Update: Did my interview had to wait about 10 minutes. The officer said she would approve my renewal once my fingerprint check came back. Got the approval email about 30 minutes later.

More than 1 year old global entry applicatiob

Can you submit second global entry application while one is in pending review?

I am on visa and I applied for global entry more than year ago (Apr 2018). I need to complete verification in India, which I didn't do yet.

My application still shows as "Pending Review". My address, job have changed since then. Is there an option to fill in new application? I can't find it online. Or a customer care to reach out via email or phone? Thanks.

First, no. You can't.
Some questions: was this a renewal or initial application?
Are you a US citizen?
Do you reside outside the US?
Last: if you scroll back quite a bit someone did post the correct phone number and menu options for GE hotline/CBP. BUT I can tell you I have tried, and lately the calls don;t even go through - it's like making a call to 1980 - fast busy signal and then cuts off.

Good luck. I'm sure others on here will be able to clarify for you.

(Day 142 awaiting 2nd GE renewal)

I believe the old one is still active in the system. I would expect either you can continue with it, or you must contact CBP and have it killed.

I assume you still have access to the email address you used? It is very possible to update this information at the interview, once that is scheduled. Hopefully CBP would understand that some people change their address and/or job during the (now lengthy) review process.

Here is a data point on renewing an expired Global Entry.

Summary:

Global Entry Expired in March 2019. Applied for renewal in May 2019. Just got my approval today (1 Nov 2019). About 5 months to get a renewal on an expired GE approved. However was not required to schedule an interview. I'm all approved and ready to go.

Detail:

I had been living/working in Asia 2014 - 2018. Got the GE in 2014 and also got the APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) sometime afterwards to go through the priority immigration lines. That was a real life saver as some of the SE Asian countries immigration lines can be quite long. I finished my 4-year overseas assignment in June 2018 and really didn't travel much at all afterwards. Boneheaded out and didn't pay attention that my GE expired March 2019. Found out in April when I was going on an overseas flight for work and didn't get my TSA-pre on a domestic connecting flight. Looked at my card, "Doh!" expired. Luckily I had gotten another APEC card 6 months before the GE expire date so I had an ABTC that still had an expiration date in 2022. Although not sure it's still valid if GE is expired, but it worked in Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, and Seoul.

Got back from the overseas trip and applied for GE renewal in late May. I had read that there was a big backlog so wasn't sure how long my renewal of expired GE would take. It was 5 months to get it approved. My bad for not putting the renewal in before the expire date. I thought for sure that I would move from 'pending' to 'conditional approval' and have to schedule and interview, but apparently not. The status on the TTP dashboard is 'Approved' and in the approval letter is says "You can begin using the program immediately." I assume they will be sending me another card. I sort-of hoping to have to go in and get a new picture as I've lost about 40 pounds since I got the picture last time and look a lot better. :-)

I might have the record for now. My renewal was just approved 157 days after it was submitted (May 29 -> November 2), with no re-interview required.

cheltzel Nov 5, 2019 11:01 am

I just applied for my second renewal at about 360 days out from my expiration.

Wish me luck!!

You have about a 2/3 chance of getting your renewal approved in about 10 days, and about a 1/3 chance of your renewal taking several months (currently about five months). Do let us know what happens in your case.
