Next time, mark your calendar to renew at T-364.

SO applied for renewal 2/17 approved 2/24 without new interview

so who knows how this works and incredibly frustrating given I've now had 2 full trips without pre-check. Wonder if its even worse when one has a govt security clearance given the posts on this board.

My SO applied for renewal 12/29 (expired but within grace period) and still "Pending Review." Super frustrating but is what it is I suppose.

Good news, I finally got approval on Monday 3/4/19 for a renewal that I applied for on 12/17/18. No interview needed and card in the post apparently. Expiry was on 3/31 so cutting it a little close. Perhaps they do look at the expiry date when prioritizing who to process next? Either way I am relieved! BTW I never received a single email about my application, acceptance, processing, approval etc. Seems like this is a polling activity, no chance of an interrupt.... .

There is hope...

I seriously doubt that is the case. Individuals renewed shortly before or after expiration date, still taking various amount of time to be either conditionally approved or approved.

It is best to renew at T-364 next time to avoid any anxiety.

I'm glad that you got your renewal, however, it was not cutting it close. As long as the renewal application is submitted before expiration of the current membership, the member continues to receive all the Global Entry benefits pending the final approval for up to 6 months after the expiration date.

Boy, I wish I had know about that 6 month "grace" extension. Not knowing about it, I let my expiration date go by and did apply for renewal for a couple of weeks, which has already cost me 3 months with the benefit.

Not generally, even as that (ie, membership expiry date and/or expiry date+6 months) would make sense if it always happened that way. CBP doesn’t even have the process in place to grant GE membership renewal without interview to all of those current GE members who receive conditional (renewal) approval while still having c. 11-18 months to use GE without doing the required renewal interview (at which time they may or may not get final renewal approval). In other words, it’s possible to be “trusted” enough to continue to use GE a lot but still not be granted final renewal approval as a GE member.

Applied for renewal on 2018-12-24. I was conditionally approved yesterday, 2019-03-06. I didn't receive an email - I just happened to check this morning and notice it.

I'm confused what you're saying here.

Just that having applied for renewal at, say, 12 months from expiry, you continue to have GE benefits for a further 18 months.

However, in the renewal process running in parallel, you might get conditional approval 10 months before expiry. At this point you've still got 16 months of GE left but, if you have your interview and don't get approval (however unlikely that might be, it's still possible), you would lose any unused 'grace' period the scheme was perfectly happy to allow you.

I guess that the moral would be to leave your renewal interview until as late as possible.

Wife and I applied on 2-18-19 for our first renewals. She received her card yesterday (neither of received any emails). I signed into my account today and I have to do the interview!! (UGH)

only difference between our applications is my passport was renewed since we signed up for program...hers is same.

I made appt then found the "you can do interview when arrive in the US" email from them...We are flying out and back to US in May, so I'm going to try to do that.

Before I found email about arrival interview I had made appointment for regular interview. I went to cancel it BUT was greeted with message, "if you cancel interview your application is no longer valid". (so I changed to date after we arrive back and hopefully we can actually do the interview upon arrival??)
